Hah, first question is mine.

Do you believe in maintaining hope even when the situation seems dire or in common terms 'impossible'?

In relation, after how many rejections by the same girl should I person give up, even though I love her?

Oh and you did a typo with '..Anya geta back'

I'll assume you mean 'gets back'

I wasn't being rude! I was honestly just asking, because Elmo (The character) = Emo is a bit of an inside joke. No offense meant, seriously.

And if it was an "ask ANYTHING tread," it was perfectly legitimate. Hell, it's a question about the person himself.

Phew! I wasn't expecting that many replies

Ok here goes...

From Thoughtless
"Do you believe in maintaining hope even when the situation seems dire or in common terms 'impossible'?"

- Maintaining hope is never an impossible task, ok sometimes it's buried under loads of different emotions, but from my experience - hope is a very stubborn thing, as well as troublesome. It takes a LOT to extinguish it... unless Paris Hilton becomes even MORE famous, then my hope in the human race is well and truly over.

"In relation, after how many rejections by the same girl should I person give up, even though I love her?"

- Depends on the girl, and depends on the rejection. For most girls, twice is enough. Once is a courtesy thing, and if the bloke is brave enough to ask again, then SOMETRIMES they find that cute and accept. Anything more than that might be considered stalking. It's bad news but you might have to accept thew fact that this girl you love just can't or won't love you back and the only thing you can do is move on. Only then she might see what she's missing Good luck!

From Shadic
"Ever considered dropping the 'L" in Elmo, so that you can be Uncle Emo?"

- Someone did once, and I had to have the joke pointed out to me. I don't think I'm THAT Emo, not anymore, unless I have a lot of Cherry coke and some form of alcohol. I've mellowed with age I think

From Danielle
"So uh... is this thread an ask ANYTHING thread?"
- Yep, anything goes. I'm very hard to shock

From MathOnNapkins
"Is there anyone you would love to kick in the genitals, given the chance?"

- LOL! Love this question, umm, no. not really. I'm generally a believer in the fact that the torture human beings can unleash on themselves is greater than any physical pain I could give them. Besides, isn't kicking a bloke in the groin the worst thing they could do to another bloke... apart from sleep with their girlfriend/mother/wife/little sis

"How is the weather been this winter? Good in recent years? Or still the same stuff?"

- It's actuallyt getting milder each year. We only had one or 2 really cold nights, and only one day of snow.
Perhaps what they say about Global Warning makes sense after all...

From Shadic
"What are your thoughts on The Flying Spaghetti Monster?"
- Ah that doesn't scare me, although I keep a fresh batch of Bolognaise sauce brewed up, just in case.

From Koneko
"Why don't you have a regular 'ask' thread?"

- I have in the past. but it bombs terribly, just wait till Anya gets back, tjis one will too

"Are we limited to one question per post?"
- Nope!

Koitenshin
"What do you think about the new holographic storage discs (300GB of storage)they are coming out with later this year?"

- It makes me wonder what you're going to use the storage for, plus I'm annoyed as it'll mean I have to buy all my DVD's over again (however having the Extended editions of LOTR on one disk will be pretty nifty). I'm also worried which one will win out of HD-DVD and BluRay.

"Are you an uncle IRL or do you feel that you´re like an uncle for the rest of the members here?"

- Nope, I'm not an Uncle in RL, not YET anyway, my sister wants to make a career for herself before kids, as well as the fact she's now single. I guess I DO think of myself as an uncle for the rest of the members here. I've been "Uncle Elmo" for over 7 years now online and the nickname began because I was an agony uncle back then dispensing advice for the local youth club magazine - (so my E-mail addy at the time reflected this). It's since sort of stuck.

What is the proper way of going about in Valentine's Day when I want to buy something from a friend of mine who I like a lot but has turned me down?

I don't want to buy something 'big' because that wouldn't help matters but I do want to buy something that says 'I still like you but this gift was brought because you are my friend first'

I have an idea but I'll wait to see your suggestions before stating mine.

What do I do if an engaged girl expresses interest in having sex with me?

What about if she's thinking it's a horrible idea to get married at age 19?

What if she's thinking it's a horrible idea to get married at age 19 AND she's not actually interested in her fiancee?

And finally, What if she's thinking it's a horrible idea to get married at age 19 and she's not actually interested in her fiancee and I'm aware of the problems that this situation presents and it's only sexual attraction and I've got extreme reservations against forming an emotional attachment with her because she could do the same to me no matter how low the risk of that actually happening is?

". You better take care ofthis place while I am away. Okay, not really a question, but more of a threat."

- Of course Anya, the nudie pictures were already up as soon as your back was turned , oh and someone has spilt cocoa on the nice white carpet, not me naturally

"What is the proper way of going about in Valentine's Day when I want to buy something from a friend of mine who I like a lot but has turned me down? "

- Hmm... me personally, I'd avoid giving her anything like the plague, perhaps becuse I'm a romantic soul and I think that Valentine's day should be left for the lovers. That said, over here they sell cards that specifically state it's from a friend, not sure if it's the same pver there but that would be a good thing.

"What do I do if an engaged girl expresses interest in having sex with me?

- Ooh! A Tough one on the surface actually turns out simple. If I was in this situation, I'd not get involved. It's natural for ANY fiancee to have doubts, and perhaps her jitters are momentary, so if she acted upon her impulses, she might then regret them, and then of course you'd have her husband to be on your back. Leave the onus on her, and tell her that you're not going to reciptrocate her feelings unless she breaks off the engagement, it's far on this other bloke after all. That said if you've got doubts yopurself, it's only fair to tell her too, because if she breaks off this engagement for you, and then you'll not persue the relationship, well there will be 2 deeply unhappy people.
I do have a confession to make, I've been in this situation twice, from both sides. Both times were unpleasent for differing reasons.
Good luck!
