Dude.

You don't need 3gb of ram.

Trust me, you don't.

Like Darkslaya said, you do not need 3GiB of RAM, unless you are one to do a lot of graphic design or video processing, which I believe you don't do on a daily basis.

what gmae needs that spec? But yeah, if your systems that gd why buy another. 2gb is enough, replace the 3rd when u actually need it, by then they will be much cheaper too.

2GiB bytes of RAM is more than enough for any game for the next several years--if you want true, top of the line gaming performance that will last a while, then I'd spend that money for one more 1GiB stick of RAM towards a top of the line video card.

I have about 3gb of ram. But I seriously need it for video effects/editing. I remember when I used to create particle effects using a laptop with 512mb ram. wtf. how the fuck was I able to do anything?

Exactly. I remember had a graphics project a while back--doing photon mapping). It was painful when I was working on a laptop with only 128MB of RAM I got a new laptop with 512MB and things improved a little more.

Games are memory intensive...but they are mainly memory intensive in the video processing aspect, which is done primarily on video cards.

£gb of ram is defninately not need. It's fun to be able to say you have it (e.g. One of my P.C's have four jsut for the sake of running three different dedicated server games at school) but 2 gb with a graphics card or two is enough. Not even games like unreal or half life need 3 gb of ram to run at their best.

Just an FYI. 3gb ram is NOT 3060mb, it's 3072mb.

Well, those specs are too low for one thing I know of. Half Life 2 had a sequel sidestory thing you could download with experimental lighting graphics, my friend has the same specs as you, and it wasnt high enough. Sure, its because its experimental, but in the future a game with those lighting graphics will need more than that to run properly.

Are you talking about the lost coast thing? Because all my specs are way lower than those and I could run it with the high dynamic range shit just fine
Well, not with a very high framerate, but it was very playable
