Working through Mission Mode now... some of these require precise precision to get anything above a B or an A, I fear. Strange how the overall rank is calculated by the LOWEST mark obtained in a course... So even if you have all the missions starred except for one that has a B grade, your overall rank for that stage is B.  |

| The trick is to just stay in control the entire time. Time is only part of your rank, and you don't suffer if you happen to get hit by a lot of items, though you get bonuses if you do stuff like dodge blue shells. Just so long as you take first every time, don't fall off, stay on the course excepting certain shortcuts, and stay in control, you should do pretty well. | |||

| I wonder if getting hit has something to do with it though... for example, during the Mission 6 boss battle your rank pretty much seems to turn to crap if you get dumped once, even if you win fairly quickly. Or the time needed is fairly strict, either or. | |||

| Missions are quite different from GPs. They basically assume that since the boss won't be doing anything based on luck, you don't need any of that crap and should have a strict time limit.
I think I beat him in 25 seconds, though. Really not hard. |

| Not exactly a programming ERROR so much as a way to keep people from comboing a player pointlessly in versus to delay them too much (which could especially be a problem if someone has good aim and triple green or red shells) which, like many things, can be abused. | |||

| Personally, I've not once avoided a Blue Shell. It just seems impossible!
I've heard all of the ways of going about it, too: * Use a Mushroom just before it hits you to boost out of the way. This never works. No matter what your speed, the Blue Shell will stay on your ass. * Throw anything that can be thrown (I.E: Bomb, Fake Item Box, Banana) into the Blue Shell just as it hovers over your head. I've grown accustomed to attempting to throw things into the Blue Shell before it hits, but I've never succeeded. * Throw a Banana or anything that you could quickly run into to spin yourself out just before the Blue Shell hits. While spinning, the Blue Shell will be effective. Seriously...WTF? 
How the hell are you supposed to time that!? You normally don't even recognise that there's a Blue Shell on your ass untill it's too late. Are you supposed to just guess the timing? Or do you just throw whatever's in hand as soon as you see the Blue Shell on the bottom screen? In other news: * I'll be buying a wireless router pretty soon, so I can kick all your asses. 
* I've currently got a tripple star ranking on every cup of every CC class except for three: 150CC Mirror Star Cup (double star) 150CC Mirror Special Cup (double star) **EDIT** (Plus two more Cups done  )
I officially made the game lag! Never experienced that much lag on any cart/card game before!
It was in Star Cup's Mario Circuit, and I somehow ended up way back in 8th. The Fire Phirana Flower thingoes shot out their fireballs, and 6 characters were all bundled up together. It was a funny site just overtaking 6 slow-ass characters. But yeah! As I was overtaking them, the game lagged really bad. 
**EDIT** I'm now part of the 3-star group. Man! That last one was incredibly frustrating! I came from 8th to 1st on Rainbow Road. Luckily, at the start of the 3rd lap, while I was in second, someone launched a Blue Shell, which sealed my fate as for me staying in first. I feel pretty proud of myself. 
Now, when I have my first WiFi match, people will know I rox0rz even though I'll have a 0/0 record.  (edited by Scatterheart on 01-08-06 05:55 PM) |

| Er... Boosts can work but they involve a lot of luck and have to be done flawlessly. It's possible to blow the blue shell out of the sky with a bob-omb but anything else won't work (and really, it's more trouble than its worth with a bob-omb). You time hitting thrown items by paying attention to the blue shell, knowing where who through it is on the course relative to you, and developing your own system. I do it based on when I first hear the blue shell's whistle. | |||

| I like thowing the bananas and other items off the edge of the level or really far to see how far out I can get them. That's fun. I'm really good with my item throwing aim too. I can get it perfect if I go off a jump. I could get it right in front of someone really easily right after I go off a jump and they're in front of me and have already landed. Sometimes I'll hold an item out behind me and I'll get right in front of someone so they hit the item. That's fun. | |||
