HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA.

Sorry, but whoever says the game cards are "fragile" obviously hasnt run over one of their cards with a quad. I tested the "capability" of Madden 2005 with my best friends quad a few months ago, and it actually DID crack, but the board and game itself still work. And before anyone is like, "OmG Why did you run over a 30 doller game ON PURPOSE!?", It was a double...I already owned it, but I got ANOTHER one for my birthday from my Great Grandma, who had no clue if I even owned the system XD. So yea, I ran over the old one. Rather fast though, I didnt go over it slow, as I knew that coulda been bad.
I actually do things like this alot...One time EGM said that they tested the GBASP's durability by flushing it in the toilet, and taking it out and turning it on, and it turned on again in 2 days. I tryed it myself with a NEW ONE, and it broke That was ok though, I brought it back to Funcoland (Now gone ;_ and was like, "Yea my little brother dropped this in the toilet, is there anything you can do?" And they said you can get it replaced with a five dollar payment. I wasn't sure where the whole five dollar payment came from, but I did anyways and got another one. So yea...Thats the end of my rather stupid long story.

I do think that one weakness of the DS is of course, the Dead Pixel problem (Oh NoEs). Yes I have one dead pixel. In my bottom right corner. Its like, not viewable from some angles, its weird. I had one just like it in my GBASP. And the BIGGEST, most annoying thing about the DS...Well MY DS is that....Bugs. They got under my screen. Yes. I even called Nintendo about it(Edit: Oh, and Nintendo, it was some woman I talked with, and she was like, "Are you serious? We have never heard of this problem.". That made me feel all the better...), and they were like, we can send you a new one, and blah blah blah, but my Mom all of a sudden last minute changed her mind saying she didnt want to send it...Why I dont know. Anyways, YES Bugs got under my screen. Many people confirmed it to show I wasnt delearious. You see, they werent under the GLASS! No no no! They were under the layer of PIXELS! YES! The actual SCREEN under the glass! You would see these little grey spots walking around under there randomly...

At first you wouldnt see them. Then they would come out when you turn on the light. This was all on the bottom screen mind you. So it was bothersome and gross...I didnt use my DS for about a week. NOW, a week ago, i noticed some more on the TOP screen. There was about a 2 month distance between the last time I saw the bugs, and they were back! BULLSHIT I though. But I was wrong. They were there. I havnt caught wiff of my little friends in the past few days, but I do know one died, right in the center. Now theres a FUCKING little grey splotch right above my FUCKING RACER in Mario Kart. It's fucking bothersome!

Holy shit...Long post...Time to stop. More weak points some other time.

Power button: The delay helps but not a lot. It's only like half a second. You generally hold up, not just press it.

Fragile carts: Only thing I'd worry about is crushing them or touching the connectors. Unfortunately it's easy to touch them. They may be tough but it only takes one static jolt to the connector to fry any device.

Rebooting after menus: Makes sense because the menus and Pictochat are like built-in games. However, it would have been piss-easy to just add a bit in the settings to fake-reboot. Menu program sets the bit and resets all the hardware, as if you'd powered off and on again. Bootup code checks that bit and if it's set, skips directly to the main menu and clears it. Resetting the hardware could be difficult, but the bootup procedures should set up everything they need to, so just putting things back the way they are at startup and jumping to them should work fine.
I think it's actually a security thing - the encryption logic cannot be restarted except by powering off (and cannot be powered off via software).

Small buttons: Yes! My finger tends to cramp after a while because of the akward position I have to hold it in.

Pictochat offline: The online stuff wasn't ready. But that doesn't mean they couldn't have updated it when it was. Games can update the firmware. It does make a handy notepad though.

Polarium: Demo rocks. Dunno about the actual game.

Bugs under the screen: Sure you're not just twisting the DS? That tends to make funny patterns on the screens. I can't imagine how a bug could get under the top screen.

Also if you're not happy with missing features or games, do some homebrew. DS can play MP3s and videos, view slideshows, and run NES/SNES/GBC/etc emus, and things like IRC clients and web browsers are in the works.

You mean actually touching the connectors with your finger? That seems like it'd be an incredibly difficult task to me. The pins are all divided by pieces of plastic that stick up quite a bit. The dividers are all very close together and high enough up that your finger can't easily hit the pins. I think you'd have to press your finger against the connector area very hard in order to even get close to touching them.

I swear to god, they crawl around under my screen. And it is all that possible, because they would of went under the sides of the bottom screen, found their way around to the top of the bottom half, went through the opening that has the wireing going through (How else would the top screen work) and get up there.

Umm, I don't worry about any damage because I loved my DS to the point I don't show it to others. I always have my games in their cases and carried in my backpack, hidden in my locker, and in the secret compartment.

They must be small bugs, then. There's not a lot of space in there.

Well you don't need to actually touch them, just get close. And if you had the games in your pocket it'd be easy to accidentally grab them by the end.

What? No...no! Lies, felonious lies! I've been to Best Buy, Worst Buy, Circut City, Circut Special Municipal District and Toys-We-'B' for goodness sake, and they all just had the silver and blue ones (some had the new pastel-looking ones bundled with Nintendogs, though). Well, if nothing else, since mine's imported I can show off the Japanese characters on the labels stuck to the back, and the packaging.

I'd still send that buggy (no pun intended) system back to Nintendo. They'll probably just sit around for a few hours looking at it and scratching their heads.

I'll go out on a limb here and say that software selection, at least in Japan, isn't a weak point.

9 out of the top 15 selling games last week were for the DS. And systems are sold out all over the place. Even if we don't want the brain training games, they sure as hell do.

I'd call it a glitch if bugs can actually work their way into the system. A design flaw.

Those are one set of games that I'm actually looking forward to. I just hope they actually get released in Europe.

You're right, actually, it does work as a non-pun.

I refuse to believe he did not intend it however.

Yes. Buggy is practically never used to mean infested by bugs. A better word would be "bug-infested."

I, as well, have a bug in my DS. I think it's dead About halfway through the bottom third or so of the top screen, there's a little blurry black dot. A couple months ago now, I was playing Nintendogs, and noticed something crawling around inside the top screen. I did my best to ignore it, as I had the feeling that it would crawl out eventually. Skip ahead to right now, and it hasn't moved in some time. No amount of shaking the DS or flicking / tapping the top screen has been able to move it

That aside though, there aren't many, if any other problems I can think of it having. I'm lucky enough to not have any dead pixels (not so much with my PSP, but that's off-topic), or to have ever turned the power off by accident.

As for PictoChat, I don't see much point to it either, as the most people you'll be able to get in a given room at any time is 16, and with that many people talking at once, the text would go by faster than you'd be able to read

All that aside, besides the insect problem, I'm quite happy with it
