The idea is running around in a maze of tight corridors collecting "Orb Coins" (Yoshi Coins; name and graphics pending) until you get enough to pass through the numbered gates. Also, I threw in On/Off switch madness and those swings from Yoshi's Island 3. In the case of the latter, the hack would teach you a nice trick to use on them. The tricks learned would be rather useless in other hacks. The swinging platform is the most neglected sprite that has potential to be cool in hacks. Keep in mind that this level wouldn't be very big on enemy action. I was thinking of having a horozontal On/Off tunnel of sorts, but that could get annoying to the player. Remember, if you're going to suggest an alternative level, it should involve the ON/OFF Theme, and preferably, be able to involve the swings. It doesn't have to involve the coin collecting theme.
If you need a visual idea, click here. It's a browser stretcher, so that's why it is not in this post. Note that the graphics are still a WIP, and are only temporary until I can get better graphics for the area. The bright colors aren't so bad in game, just so you know. I think it's a great idea. It's definitely unique, and it looks really fun and cool! Those are my favorite kinda of puzzles - the ON/OFF ones, so I say go for it

That looks very cool. For some reason it reminds me of the wario land games, which isnt a bad thing.

Heh... I didn't expect that the screen would have that many colors to it. It does, however, look really unique. It might turn out well; so, yes. (edited by Chris on 12-31-05 01:09 AM) |

Originally posted by HHH3 Not exactly. Puzzles will be involved, but only in moderation. The real point of the hack is going to be to break as many cliches as possible while having unique levels. This level is fairly early on in the game. I've already got an idea for the second incarnation of this level type in the world it is in. |

Im not sure I understand exactly, but it sounds fairly interesting. Im the kind of person who has to see it in action to fully undstand what youre trying to get at. Can we expect a demo level or two any time soon?

It definately sounds good and all... but I have a complaint about the graphics...
Make the background a little darker, because it can look kind of confusing to the player... If you do that I think the looks would even out nicely and you'll have a great thing goin on here. |
