Ever get those weird bugs that just seem to come out of nowhere and stick around until you reboot? I just had one a while ago, where the mouse kept moving downward erratically. It started after I smacked it against the desk because the scroll wheel is messed. I ended up smashing it against a wall (wouldn't have, but I was about to replace it anyway with one that actually worked ), and grabbed another, working one out of the basement. Plugged it in and went back to coding... a minute later, the damn thing starts moving again! I looked around, the desk wasn't tilted or anything, and it even happened with the mouse unplugged. This just kept happening, moving faster and faster until I rebooted, and now it seems to be fine.
So what other weirdness have you seen computers do? |

My floppy drive sometimes gets emo and grinds it's R/W head (or something other than the diskette) around itseide itself whenever I try to access a floppy... Annoying, because I have to use CD-ROM's instead.
Also, my hard drives sometimes make wierd noises, but nothing ever comes of it... |

I don't think my computer has done anything weird before, really. I do get one weird thing I don't know about, however; when I'm on the internet, sometimes, I get a sudden flood of web pages if one small error occurs. I don't know what it means, but after I reboot, things are fine... (edited by Chris on 12-28-05 10:41 AM) |

It's computer weirdness, is it not?
There was one time my computer started looping this really weird noise for no apparent reason until I rebooted. I still have it on tape somewhere, so when I find the cable, I'll upload it somewhere. |

Off the top of my head:
- Random explorer.exe crash every 10-20 secs. Never knew why that happened, but was a pain in the ass (if not impossible) to open any program, even (back then) nero. Had to backup all my files through the MS Word open dialog! Had to reformat aftet that. - Dos prompt never opening, no matter what I did. It said that the file i was doubleclicking was not found (eg: I clicked on test.exe, a console app; rather than opening closing it or whatever, a message saying: test.exe was not found was shown). Booting trhough msdos worked fine tho. Scuked for developing my console apps. - Entire computer freezing randomly, even on boot. I figured it had something to do with my cd-rw drive. Had to remove it and put a new one. Then the random freezing wasn't so random, and ocurred only when copying large files from cd's. After nearly a year (!!), I learned about pc hardware, I learned about ATA and such, and turned out that my IDE cable was fucked up. Changing it solved everything...asdffghj |
