This link coupled with This article caught my attention. WIth this research, humans could become near invincible, powerful beings. What are your thoughts? Would you ever have this done to yourself?
I would. The idea of this excites me; I would revel in it, and enjoy seeing people that I currently hate wither away, while I stay young indefinately. It's intriguing, to say the least... |

I think you're assuming too much about the article.
The article talked about regeneration of limbs not total human regeneration. It would solve many problems but it wouldn't put humans in a state of immortality. |

From the stories I've heard, being immortal stinks after a while. You get really, really bored. You could visit every known country, catch every disease, and read every book in your language and then some, and then you'd have nothing to do. ![]() |

Games would continue to be developed and new people to play games with would exist.
Boredom? I think not. |

Er, I would surely try it but to live forever wouldnŽt be that fun. And do you really want to experience the end of the world?
Living a normal life gets people to set goals of what they want to do. If the are immortal, they can do stuff whenever they feel like it. Suddenly, the whole purpose of setting goals in life is completely gone and thereŽs nothing to do after a while. IŽd like humans to age more slowly but not be immortal. |

I wouldn't change that.
Do that, and then you'd have some poor bugger who'd have some disease or another that would normally kill him, but instead only cause him a huge amount of pain or something because of his imortality. I think things should stay the way they are right now, really. |

Um, if having that ability would make you immortal, then why aren't amphibians immortal?
Though this could be a great breakthrough for medicinal purposes. |

The ability doesn't make you immortal. These were two different articles. I'm saying that with these two abilites combined, the human race's power would increase about 10 fold. | |||

Immortality is kind of like being invinsible, it would be nice to be invisible, but not all the time, it would be better if you could turn it off if you want. I wouldn't mind immortality, but I wouldn't want to be stuck with it. Like, I don't age, or get sick, and I heal quickly, but still have the option of putting a bullet through my head if the need arose.
I guess I'd just like to experience as much as I possibility can before I die, there wouldn't be much rush if I was immortal. If I really ran out of things to do I could always start insulting everyone in the universe. |

If you ask me I would say that immortality would really suck. If history really does repeat itself then after a while you would really have seen it all and you would want to rest in peace. Not to say I wouldn't mind living for 200 years but I wouldn't want to live for ever. |
