Yeah, so who's fans?

Stuff I like:
- Dragonforce (Valley of the Damned is by far my favorite album out of any band, period)
- Edguy
- Gamma Ray
- Angra
- Sonata Arctica
- Six Magics
- Children of Bodom
- Stratovarious
- Rhapsody
- Freedom Call

And so on.

Power Metal is awesome stuff. That's all there is to say.

I've got several songs uploaded on my server, so if you guys want, I can give out some links to some songs if anyone is interested in hearing some bands, or maybe interested in giving Power Metal a try.

Power Metal is mainly and usually overdramatic fast paced metal involving high pitched "Let's drink and rock and roll all night loooooong!" type of vocals. A lot of Power Metal resides from Europe also, and there's a lot of Medievil influences in bands through lyrics, orchestrated parts, etc. Expect solo's for every song, and heavy double bass drumming.

Very tasty.

Heh, out of all the bands ...

Well, I actually only have two of their songs on my computer now, and they're kind of low quality.

Just a heads up though, but they have death styled vocals. But, unlike all other death metal out there, I actually really like this band, and do enjoy the vocals.

Tasty metal folder

First two songs in there are by them.

My God, me loves them Time to go CD shopping! And the vocals are actually really cool to me, but the guitars have me really going.

Most definitely.

But after reading a lot of reviews and stuff, I'll tell you what I've -heard-.
(and I've checked out a few songs)

These two songs are from their older stuff, which in my opinion is better. More stylized and dramatic. Their newer album seems to have gone a little more thrasy than epic.

So, I'm just saying if I were you, I'd look out for some of their older stuff, but that's me.

I usually get everything I can, old or new. I like to make a collection so I can see the bands progress over time.

Yeah.

Also, if you really like their guitar stuff, you should definitely check out Dragonforce. They do a lot of that cool "videogame-ish" riffing and stuff a LOT. They're just way faster (drums shake my car ) and the vocals are higher.

I went ahead and added 3 of quite possibly my favorite songs to the folder there, in case you or anyone else hasn't checked out Dragonforce yet. They're all tracks from Valley of the Damned. Incredible stuff.

They sound cool too. Higher pitched but still great.

edit| And damn, some of those songs are pretty lengthy.

Pffft! Unlike all other? Have you ever heard the album Heartwork by Carcass? Give it a whirl. If it doesn't kick your ass...well, it's going to kick your ass regardless of whether you realize it or not, and the band has a far better death metal vocalist than Alexi Laiho.

"Blind Bleeding the Blind" is perhaps my favorite metal song by any band. It's badass supreme.

For Children of Bodom, I might upload an album or two (I have some albums I can rip).

Also:

- Helloween (Wtf, they've got 5-6 drummers through the years).
- Edguy (Xeo, get Burning Down The Opera anyway you can, it's like, better than awesome in a can)
- Children of Bodom (don't like the first album thought. Hatebreeder is awesome with stuff like Downfall, Towards Dead End, Children of Bodom)

Note that there's a few bands I wanna try, too. Just haven't gotten to it.

Also, Xeo, can you upload some Gamma Ray?

Dragonforce FTW! I love Power Metal so much. 'Prepare for war' is one of my most favourite songs ever <3

The solo's are always awesome in a Power Metal song, they get me all pumped up

Well, like I said, I honestly don't really like Death Metal. The only reason why I like CoB is because they're kind of their own deal, really different from regular Death Metal.

I've got a friend who lent me a handful of Death Metal CD's, and I honestly didn't really care for them.

DarkSlaya: I actually don't have anything of Gamma Ray on my computer.
I really need to get my friend to burn me some CD's.

I know you'd like them though. They sound a LOT like earlier Iron Maiden, but probably a little heavier. They're more metal than epic (like Edguy).

If I ever can get an album, I'll upload some songs. I've just heard a lot of their stuff through friends, and I can say they're very good.

Xeo pretty much sums up my opinion on Death Metal.

CoB is pretty different from Death Metal, even Alexi's voice is different.

And Alexi's guitar is sexy.

I mean, you can actually understand him, almost all of the time, and he doesn't scream from the beginning of the songs to the end.

Maybe it's just the handful of Death Metal CD's that my friend let me borrow that are like that, but I just don't like the darker tone, the constant non-stop yelling, and so on.

But hey, to each his own. I'm sure many people laugh at the cheesy instruments and lyrics used in some Power Metal, and cringe at the high pitched vocals (Blind Guardian anyone?) and so on.

So, yeah.

Pretty much all the bands I like also.

You should check out Angra. I just recently got into them, and I haven't been disappointed at all.

Angels Cry is a decent album, but their Rebirth album is a masterpeice, from Track 1 to the final track.

They seem a little prog-influenced at time, how their music flows, but I'd still label them as Power Metal since they do get a little faster and heavier at times.

Look at them, as a cross between Queensryche and Sonata Artica / Stratovarius.

There's a lot of parts in their songs where my mind just seems to scream "Queensryche!"
(which is a good thing, as Queensryche's old stuff freaking rocks the house).

And just to get this out, I'd have to say that Rhapsody is by far the ultimate combination of Metal and Orchestra / Symphony.
