A few months ago I probably would've said "It seems somewhat promising".

Now, with the latest trailers, I have next to no interest in seeing it. But I will, with a bunch of friends. Its a Superhero movie! So I guess we have to go see it.

I honestly think it looks terrible though. Definitely looks like an abonimation to the Ghost Rider name/character, etc.

I don't know why the insist on making big budget live-action movies out of comic books. I'd rather see a really well done, budget-constrained piece that requires actual originality and grace in its execution.

Movie producers see production as an easy way for money. Movie cliches (can't put accent mark in) are quite common and even there are those like us who dislike them after a few in a row or those who view the cliche like 4 times before getting bored. Cliches are very common I mean come ON!!! Count how many Penguin movies there were! (or at least those about arctic things)

Well, I can only really think of March of the Penguins and the parody movie that came after it. Likewise, I can't think of much else than Happy Feet on the penguin front. So, I don't think that they are necessarily cliched. Happy Foot, for example, was a musical that used penguins as a way to highlight the risks of global warming/climate change. Comic book movies, normally, aren't too cliched. Look at Road To Perdition, 300, Sin City, The Hulk and a few others. They just make good sense to produce because they're an imaginative medium with an already established fan base with word-of-mouth potential. I just want to see an original take on one of these adaptations that was unique in its style (The Hulk was, but it was unfairly maligned by an ignorant audience).

But banking on something with a relatively large budget that may not have a good commercial or critical reception isn't the way that smart producers make money. However, Avi Arad has already stated that there will be a sequel. Maybe they know something about it that I don't, but it got a 30% on Rotten Tomatoes...

A cool interview with Nick Cage.
