I've been browsing this board for almost a month without saying a word, but now it's time for me to speak. I've been working on this MM1 hack for almost a year, but then dropped the project cause I lost intrest. But, after seeing more hacks of MM on the old board inspired me to pick up on my project again, so it's done. (Many thanks to the people in the readme.)

I hope you people enjoy playing this hack as much fun as I had hacking it.
Before playing this hack, please read the readme so you'll know what your getting yourself into. Well, enough of me running my mouth, here's the pics of my hack...

And get the patch here.

Enjoy.

If you were having checkpoint trouble, you could have asked. All the data necessary to make checkpoints act properly has been found. Let me know if you want it.

I love playing these types of hacks, i'll surely give yours a try very soon here, soon as I have the time, and then give you my thoughts about it.

Edit: Okay, I'm back. I'd say I'd give your hack an average rating. It's certainly not as great as some others I've played, ..and that's excluding rockman exile (mm2). But it's alright. I'm sure you've put a ton of work into it, and I can imagine. That's good.

Just some issues though.
Elecman: The path through the stage seemed dead on exactly the same as the original. You don't have to just use the same path as the game normally uses...by going up about 15 screens or so..and right for 2 or 3. I loved how you've really made use of the Magnet Beam by needing it to get through most of the 2nd half of the stage. However I feel really bad saying this but...due to the fact that you didn't do anything with mid point and boss room points (checkpoints) because you're worried about sprites getting glitched or the whole stage being messed up ...and it's really not that hard to fix that type of thing....after going through the boss door...and up 1 screen where you gotta use the magnet beam to reach the ladder ya know? ...I ran out of magnet beam energy there ..so I couldn't ever get up ...and I SERIOUSLY did not want to restart the whole stage all over again ...but I hacked the weapon's energy loaded in the RAM to give myself a full bar to continue.

Cutman: This stage was pretty challenging, believe me I did use those save states alot trying to get past a few specific parts. This stage was a bit better than elecmans in my opinion.

Gutsman: Very short stage. Did you make this stage shorter or something? ..because it took maybe only 3 minutes for me to get through it.

Fireman: Pretty challenging. Sadly again ...at one point I ran out of energy for Magnet beam ...needed to reset the RAM value to 1C to give myself a free full energy bar cause I know i got quite far in the stage, and due to no checkpoints...did not want to start all over from the beginning.

Iceman: Wow! ...I see what you mean by how you have to play the fireman stage first before iceman because of the glitches it has....that really is pretty weird ...if you use the magnet beam after the first part of the stage it's required...it fucks up the screen making invisable walls and crap. That's so odd. And then after beating fireman stage...it fixes itself? ..hmm ....im not sure what to say about that. But I managed to make it through that stage barly. No weapon cheating using RAM offset $71 (that controls the magnet beam energy)

Bombman: I seemed to have tooken a liking to the nice purple and dark blue night time level design. This was not that hard of a stage compared to some of the others so far but I found absolutely no problems with this one. I'm playing these stages as I go along and typing my reviews up after fininshing a stage.

Dr Wily 1: Fustrating trying to get past the ladders part where you climb ...use magnet beam ...then get off the ladder and cross above the spikes fast enough before you die...and then trying to dodge the annoying bullet bombs or whatever those things are. ..they look like things off SMB3. hehe.

Dr Wily 2: not much to say
Dr wily 3: ...pretty much the same exact thing as the original ..i did notice some palette changes with the colors...but that's it...nothing new about it really. also i experminted with the checkpoint bug..and could get through it without getting stuck ...just had to do a few jumps in the right spots.
Dr wily 4: 3rd time I had to refill the magnet beam weapon because of running out. You could of added at least 2 large weapon capsules in the stage before getting to the 4 boss re-challenges. but don't worry.

Also after I beat gutsman ...the music just got all messed up ... ...also the sprite ordering on the last last screen is wrong...those little blue screws that hang on the ceiling..the 1st one is fine...but the 2nd one comes out of no where pratically ...so i kept dieing like 3 or 4 times right there. Heh, it's okay though.

Other notes: No checkpoints for any stages = BAD ...cause no matter what the player will have to cheat one way or another like I did. I couldn't help it when ...I get to the end of a stage..or close to the end...and then die...or die fighting a boss....having to restart the WHOLE stage over again just makes it very irritating. ...in other words...there was absolutely no point to getting any 1-Up's in any stage that had them. No offense or anything.

All the levels seemed to be edited using the same path to the boss room...that's also kind of another downfall.

I defintely liked how you redrew the weapon and regular energy capsules to look like the normal MM2-MM6 type....because MM1's original is just ugly looking compared to 2-6. ...so props to you for that.

This hack was okay, not the best in my opinion, i've played better ones, and I am NOT trying to put you down or say bad and mean things about your work ...you did good, honestly. Just giving my honest thoughts.

I give you a C-/C rating. or about 6.5 out of 10 ...

I enjoy all Megaman hacks. That doesn't make me to edit Megaman levels or CHR. Oh, no. I still play the original classics on my Nintendo Gamecube and not the ROM.

I can't wait for Megaman X Anniversery Collection.

I own the anniversay collection for PS2. I love my megaman games.
Question...are you used to the revesersed affect for the jump and shoot buttons on the gamecube version? ...that's gotta be a royal pain in the ass...i absolutely cannot play any of the games when the buttons are reversed....so instead of jumping...you shoot...and instead of shooting...you jump.

I can't wait for the X collection too. ..I've seen the commercial for it on TV like 20 times now.

Kuja Killer: Thanks for your honesty, I really appreciate it. Ya, I played alotta MM hacks before trying to take this hack on. There's a Rockman hack called RX (made in 2003) that's the best hack of MM1 in my opinion. I can touch it up by adding more large weapon capsules throughout the hack later on tonight, and yeah the no check points in this hack is bad. I'll get better as I mess with the editor some more. I agree with ya's about the levels being edited using the same path to the boss room being another downfall, I gotta look into that some more with moving the levels around.

A 6.5 outta 10 to me ain't bad, considering this is my first time hacking this game. But I'm all for putting back the checkpoints in the hack though since they can be fixed up. Thanks again for playing my hack tho. with your feedback and NetSplit's feedback (before the release) this'll help me hack MM better tho.

NetSplit: If you can pass me the notes later on I would really appreciate it.

Orochimaru: Thanks again brotha.

TheOnyxDragoon: Yeah it's me, Googie.

InsectDuel: I love the X series too, I know I still have MMX4 for PS1 around here somewhere. *Looks in storage boxes*

When I was testing, I kinda stopped after beating the 6 standard stages, since the hack was really frustrating me, so I've nothing to say about those stages.

kuja killer: The original game had a short Guts Man stage that I can get through in a few short minutes. Elec Man is by far the longest stage, whereas Guts Man is probably the shortest. Regarding the Magnet Beam, I never really liked it. I mean, it's useful in the original because it allows you to bypass a few annoying sections (I usually use it to skip the flying head platforms in Ice and Wily 1, as well as the moving platform in Wily 4), but I just wish it weren't there in the original and the levels were designed a little better to not ever really need it. I guess I'm probably alone in my hatred for this item, but I hope not. It kinda annoys me that it's so heavily used in this hack, but meh. The Magnet Beam overall is probably my biggest gripe about what I played in this hack; I'd have preferred the beam be eliminated and the many large gaps in the hack be made less wide so people wouldn't die so many times.

But anyway, yeah. I kinda like the hack; could be better, could be MUCH MUCH WORSE (oh man, some of those old MM1 hacks from way back when are terrible). But anyway, yeah.

Yeah, this hack'll help me improve if I ever deceide to do another MM hack. (Leaning towards doing it too) It just felt good to do something different for a change, instead of hacking SMB1 (I'm done hacking that game though)

Maybe I should finish my Astyanax hack, since I have 5 levels left to do. Only time will tell...

Among your hack, I beat Gutsman first defeating him with the P-Cannon. I done that lots of times when I play the Original Version of the game. I think this hack is a REAL Challenge.

I really love challenges in Megaman hacks but I'll try to beat it. Not to mention trying to beat Fireman with the P-Cannon which it takes full health to beat and timing as well.

Keep those Megaman hacks coming.

Hey, nice hack, Googie...didn't mean to blow your cover. You made some challenging levels, so, I'll have to play this when I'm fully awake O_o.

lol don't worry about blowing my cover, few people knew it was me before I spoke here. I have the same name on two other boards anyways, so it wasn't hard to spot me.

But yeah, try the hack out when you have time, just don't put out a manhunt on me for it's difficulty, lol. I'll start hacking this game again after xmas tho. along with my MM2 hack, Bugs Bunny's Crazy Castle hack...lemme stop, I spoke too much. XD

I wonder how Capcom can name the Weapons in MM1 in MMAC. At least a few levels I played, Megaman has to waste ammo on Magnet Beams on Regular levels.

They are named.
Well if you play the game normally with "Navi Mode" turned off ...they'll all have that 1 letter abreviation.
If you play the game with Navi Mode turned on ...then they're all named fully...and the weapon menu screen is completely different.
And I am talking about the megaman anniversary collection for PS2/Gamecube.
