Was cheering for New Orleans then after they lost I cheered for Colts.

They had a bad start and then pulled through.

And go Prince eh?

The Saints were a good enough team to beat the Bears, too. I dunno WHAT they were doing out there that day. Still, I think if it'd been Seattle they were playing it woulda been New Orleans that the Colts beat in the Super Bowl =P

Talk about a game that looked close on the scoreboard but wasn't.

The first half seemed like you put a cheat code in Madden to have players fumble every time they're hit.

Prince should have been MVP. Nobody else played as well. And I can't believe people are getting upset over the phallic guitar shadows.

As soon as I saw that return, I got the deja vu feeling that the Bears were fucked.

Yeah, but one big difference between the two games... Troy Smith > Gross Man. I am an anti-Bear fan, so it was not surprising to me, seeing him throw those lame ducks at the end of the game. What'd they expect from him? Maybe he was too "focused on other things" like before New Year's.

Grossman doesn't suck, you can't put the loss on him.

I'm not a Bears fan, but I wanted them to beat the Colts because I hate Peyton Manning. With that being said, here is where the Bears fucked up/got fucked.

1A) They didn't stick to the running game, which was good all year long.
1B) Cedric Benson got hurt in the first quarter, which limited their options offensively. However, that doesn't mean they're off the hook for not running it.

2) This was Grossman's first full season in the NFL...in a sense, he's just a rookie. The past two years he spent the majority of rehabbing, so it's not even like he was in he league with a clipboard.

3) It was far to rainy to be airing the ball out, and they had to adjust their gameplan, although they went back to it in the closing drives.

4) Their defense didn't stop SHIT. For being so good or whatever, they wet the bed, hardcore. If you don't have the ball for 10 minutes, how are you going to get into a rhythm? You can't, the Bear's O didn't, and the Bear's D just mailed this one in.

Gross Man does suck. I understand that their defense played badly, but they still had a chance at the end of the game, and he threw up an idiotic pass that he telegraphed all the way, ending a potential drive right there. He also had those stupid fumbles on snaps from center... do it once, big deal. Do it twice and run backwards, costing your team 11 yards? Shame on him. I would take a handful of real rookies over him, and he's had time to study all he wants, fact is, he's just an airhead who had a few good games by throwing deep and garnering huge leads off defensive and special teams scores. When it comes to sitting back and throwing checkdowns and managing a real game, he can't cut it, especially not when it requires actual thought and reads of the defense. Maybe later he'll be good, but right now, he sucks.

OK, the deep ball slipped, which you can't put on him. The other pick was his fault, no defending that.

The one where he ran backwards was him trying to roll out...which is what I'm assuming the play call was, I don't remember.

Their entire gameplan is to air the ball out, so I don't know why you're jumping on him about that. They don't do short passes as a team.

That's because they know he's limited as a quarterback, and throwing the ball deep to Berrian is about the extent of his abilities. I agree that their gameplans suck in general, probably thanks to Ron Turner... but Gross Man still lost them a chance at winning that game at the end... and it is reasonable to say he played a large part in the sluggish play of the offense during the entire game. I admit that I have something against the Bears as a whole, but as a fan, I watched this guy play and I believe he was a detriment to that team for most of the season (even when Bears fans and media were slurping him.)

All I'm trying to say is that there was an undue amount of blame placed on Grossman. If the defense had maybe put, oh I don't know, some pressure on Manning, maybe they would have gotten the ball back a little more, and we could make an honest critique of Grossman's play. I mean the guy still completed 70% of his passes.

Thomas Jones ran 15 times for 112 yards. Take away a 52 yard run, and he still averaged 4.2 YPC. The Bears were never that far behind until the last quarter or so, so why did they stop running the ball? Conditions were shitty, and it makes sense to pound the ball.

Oh well. The Pats would have beaten the Colts if Rodney Harrison didn't have a bum knee.
