I have a few questions about the Yoshi Coins:

1: Can I change the sound played when Mario collects a Yoshi Coin? I want it to play the Normal Coin sound instead.
2: How can I prevent Mario from gaining 1 extra life when he collects 5+ Yoshi Coins in a single level without dying?
3: Is it possible to make all 5 Dragon Coins show up on the Status Bar instead of them all vanishing when he gets exactly 5?

My aim is to turn Yoshi Coins into Silver Coins. Anyone remember my ambitious ideas to make a gate that you can pass when Mario collects 5 Silver Coins in an area? Well... I decided to go ahead and use Yoshi Coins for that. My only problem is that Yoshi Coins vanish from the status bar when he collects 5 of them, and you get a 1-Up when you do so. I'm sure we ALL know that SMW gets VERY annoying when it's discovered that you can gain too many surplus lives WAY too easily. The fact that Yoshi Coins give you extra lives when collected only makes it worse. I NEED to disable that. (Though, considering I plan on using these only a few times in my hack, I don't really see why I should disable that, but I want to...)

Edit: Oh yeah, is it also possible to disable the increasing scores that Yoshi Coins give you? I want them to just give you 1000 Points and that's IT. (That is, 1000 per coin.)

As far as I know (which isn't far), I don't think you could make a "silver coin gate" w/o extensive hacking.

Smart idea, though.

I'm not sure about the rest of the questions but couldn't you change the palate of the yoshi coins so that they're silver by opening the 16x16 editor?(changing the actuall palate in the palate editor changes the colour of other things as well.

You must be kidding me a 'sliver coin gate' would only require TWO custom block, 1 that increase a RAM adress and one that read said RAM adress and act like a concrete block if RAM adress is under X. the only thing that would require 'extensive hacking an animation to show that the gate is now 'opened'. This idea is neither 'smart' 'Ambitious' or 'original' and many SMW hack used something similar(though they used 5 yoshi coin only block).

but since I'm kind, here the adress you looked for

0x7559: sound played by yoshi coin
0x757E: change to A9 to make all Yoshi coin give you 1000 point

for the display 5 coin stuff, this would probably require you to hack the drawing routine, wich is more complex than just changing hex

The animation is simple, if you take advantage of on/off

just simply have the counter+1 blocks check to see if you now have five coins, and if so, change the on/off state.
