I'm going with the opinion of others: loud, annoying and as far away from the bed as possible.
I used to (ab)use my computer as an alarm clock (using a mIRC timer ), but I'm not leaving my computer powered on during night anymore, so I switched to a "real" alarm clock. It's currently standing on my desk, which is on the other side of the room, so I have to stand up and go to it to turn it off. While I do that, I fall over numerous things that are in the way, like my shoes or my chair (or a cat, sometimes). It's not great, but it helps me a bit waking up. Here is the sound it makes, and it is pretty loud. I can't stand it. (I suggest turning the volume down if you're using headphones or something. I warned you, just in case.) I'm considering running a cable from my computer to speakers positioned around my pillow. Playing something very loud. Such as the THX sound.

I have to get up every morning and walk halfway across my room to turn my alarm off.... and I usually still go back to sleep. Case in point: Multiple alarms are good if you're like me.

I usually go to bed at a reasonable hour. Seems to work well.

...the THX sound would blow your eardrums out, and I guess that would wake you up...
I sometimes turn on the light to my room, I really can't sleep too long with it on. I might lie around in bed but not for that long. |

I've got an alarm clock that starts fairly low, then just keeps getting louder and louder as time goes on, I hate it. I had it set up so 20 minutes after I got around to turning it off it would start again, I was never late to school
I hate it though, haven't plugged it in since I moved in this house. |

I used to have a similar problem. I'd either turn it off in my sleep without ever fully waking up to realize it, or I'd turn it off and just roll back over. I decided to follow the advice of this thread and move it across the room, and it works fantastically. <3 Once I get up, there's no way I'm going back to sleep, I'm running for the nice warm shower.
THANKS GUYS |

Oh I can get back to bed easily if I should have to get out of it for a moment and then head back. But if I'm up for 5-10 minutes... it's over.
