Hmm, I wouldn't say you're that slow though, really. Sounds about how much time I had at that level ...

But yeah, I'm with Alaster on the icon. For some games I tend to just put in "X" too myself, but in this I just scribbled an X in a second. So, yours beats mine.

I was waiting for BMF to finish doing something, so I just started scribbling it... I made a few versions (none of which looked good to me), then I made a version of that I liked... it was backwards.

So while I waited (more), I copied it to MS Paint by hand, fixed it, then put it back in the game (and had to fix it a few times, luckily it was early on)

...

Too bad you can't use more than one color, adding a little shading would've been nice. =(

I hope you're not having more fun designing that emblem than playing the game itself.

I need to track down DoS first before I even consider PoR.

Maybe, but: PoR > DoS easily.

I would disagree. DoS had a much more fun multiplayer.

I thought they were both pretty lame actually. A few minutes of fun there, nothing more.

Single player wise, I just prefer PoR because it was somewhat more challenging (bosses weren't pathetic like in a lot of Castlevania's), and it was a few hours longer. And the two-characters thing worked out pretty well.

I will say I liked DoS's soundtrack a lot more though. In the end, anyone with a DS should already own both.

I think the two character system is terribly versatile for what they give you to deal with. An odd puzzle here or there and you have to use two characters. Two characters on the screen at the same time is also useful if you're grinding trying to get more items, spells and abilities while using Luck UP, etc. But I don't particularly want to have that second character out during boss battles b/c the AI is just... well, dumb. I also noticed that the enemy AI in this game doesn't seem to be very sharp. e.g. the fake clones at the bottom of the Nest of Evil have lots of HP but are extremely easy. I had a harder time with the Golden Skeleton room.

I thought that the game's difficulty was a lot better than that of Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow. Those two games were way too easy the first time around. My biggest problem was how the side quests from Wind/Eric had pretty crappy descriptions on some of them. As far as teh two character thing goes, I didn't mind it. I think that those little things that you can trigger with Vincent are amusing, however on the other hand, the combat was somewhat unsatisfying. The game had a lot of potential. If only they made these games with the kind of length that Symphony of the Night had. Then I think that they'd be a lot stronger.

I need to go to TRU tomorrow to see if they're doing a clearance like the American TRU is. Being able to pick up DoS for $15 (given how the clearance price in America is $10) would be sweet.

SotN is still the BEST CV game ever and might even be in my top 10/20 of all time, and I REALLY like the GBA ones (well, not so much Harmony, but still), so... yeah.

Has anyone else gotten 1000% on Hard Max Lvl 1?

I've heard people complain about the game being too easy. They should try this. It's certainly not impossible, especially if you do it on a New Game+, but it's a challenge. Without the uber gear it's downright difficult. More fun than Richter or Sisters, for sure.

*Edit* and yes, this game's soundtrack sucked. Lots. I only liked 2 of the tracks in any way (The Simon record and the original Pyramid level theme.)

Yeah.

How often was that "double push" skill used? Once, I think? Etc. They could've done a lot more. And yeah, I found myself solo'ing most of the boss fights because the other character would pretty much just stand on the boss, diminishing my MP.

Agreed to some point. What would be amazing is if Konami decided to "patch" the game up a bit before putting it up on Xbox Live Arcade. As incredible as SoTN was, I'm sure everyone can agree the gameplay was drastically broken at times. The normal castle was a joke, then even after that the game didn't get that much harder at all, you just had to "try". There just really wasn't a lot of challenge in it. Then again I can look at most of the Metroid games and say the same, even though I love those games to death also.

Its still probably my favorite Castlevania though regardless, because of the atmosphere, hilariously awesome dialogue, incredible music, and whatnot.

And the GBA ones definitely rocked. CoTM was pretty overlooked if you ask me. It felt a little different, but its a classic in my book. Harmony ... I really tried to like that game, but I couldn't get into a slow-mo Castlevania. And then Aria of Sorrow, I'd actually say I liked it a bit more than Dawn.

And of course the original Castlevania's, along with Super, Bloodlines, and Rondo of Blood, all rocked face.

Actually, having the second character on screen during certain boss fights could be EXTREMELY useful. You can control the second character somewhat with the touch screen while hanging back with your main. Running out of MP doesn't kill you, and it regenerates. Your HP on the other hand...

.... I just started a Hard Mode level-1-cap run yesterday. I must have died twenty times so far on Dullahan. Godamn do I hate that boss. Anybody else tried this out? Everything but his body is a one hit kill, even with maximum armor obtainable at that point. I did 600 damage to him, so he must have more HP in hard mode. frustrating as hell.

Is it a new game + or a start from scratch?

If it's a + just equip Charlotte with the Magus ring and use her while moving Jonathan to the front with the touch screen... or wear Ancient Armor when using Jonathan.

If it's from scratch, it's a lot harder, but I was still able to get through the game. Grinding for certain item drops will be a must, and you can use the triple jump glitch to get Nebula and a few other things early.

Also, It was impossible for me to clear the quests on lvl cap 1 because I couldn't get my stats above 100 for those quests. So if you're doing it from scratch, I'd just not even try the Den of Evil... *shudder*

New Game + lvl 1 cap is a breeze compared to doing it from scratch. I killed Dullahan on that one by using INT up from Charlotte and then using my maxed out Shuriken skill. He went down in seconds. But yeah, I'm having trouble with the "from scratch" lvl 1 cap game...

edit: bah just used the same strategy on Dullahan except I had to consume a few tonics. I had actually had problems with Dullahan even on Normal Mode so hopefully the other bosses won't give me as much trouble. 128 HP is unkind.
