Yep, KPhoenix noticed that, too.
I've checked it out by myself, and it seems that something went wrong during the hack-locking-process. I tried to unlock it, but in most of the levels I get error messages from LM, and some graphics are wrong and whatever, so unlocking isn't an option. The only solution I can think of at the moment is providing the original unlocked version I have, because with that everything is allright. I will have one ready very soon. |

Originally posted by FPI Umm, so will I not be able to pass that level either when I get there? Will my savestate work on your unlocked version? Its gonna be a major bummer if I have to start over seeing as your hack is incredibly tough. But at least its a refreshingly tough hack. You really used every trick in the book as far as level design. It looks like you created brand new tricks too. Real good job man. For a SMW hack, I give it a 8/10 Pretty fun, but Way to hard for little old me. |

Whispy Woods was cool, but... It DEFINITELY didn't need to take as long as it did. If you just pay attention, it's not hard, as you just need to jump every so often; thus, it's a very tedious battle of endurance. I mean... Almost two and a half minutes? That's just excessive.

YOUR README IS NOW NULL AND VOID. I (Foolishly?) decided to try your updated version of the hack on ZSNES 1.42. IT WORKS! I believe that the locking was not only the source of the glitched gameplay, but also the freezing in ZSNES. Now I shall clear Mario Castle YET AGAIN!!! Ahahahaha!

You are wrong. Try to enter the first pipe in "Mario's Castle" - the glitches are still there, they only have the tendency to move to other levels by changing something in the hack. So I would still suggest to try another ZSNES-version, because sooner or later you WILL have problems with 1.42.

Finally i pass these Midnigth Canyon without problems.
If you don't want to lose your save, change the name of the version 1.0 save and replace it with 1.1 save, if in the save tou are in a level it will froze, but in the OW it work perfectly. P.D:How to beat Horror Mansion, i can find none to do here. Edit: Because of the emotion i don't put my opinion of the hack: Levels: I realy like the level desing, but sometimes you're too much generous with the time none bad 9.0/10 Graphics: One of the best i never see, it have from kirby to alfred chicken. 9.8/10 Story: It was too much creatibe but there some hat does not convince me. 8.5/10 Overall:9.5/10 (edited by sergio on 12-30-06 10:03 PM) (edited by sergio on 12-30-06 10:15 PM) |

Then why are people still trying to get it to work with V1.42?

Now that I've played a bit further, I believe I can give a better review.
The level design, and the ideas, have gotten much better after the first world (as is often the case, I believe due to getting better and more consistent at things go on.) However, there is a consistent problem with your levels: You often do not let the player advance at a reasonable pace, artificially lengthening levels. You come up with ideas that are not bad, then mercilessly overuse them to the point where I found myself using savestates, not because the levels were too hard but because I just didn't want to play then over again because they had gotten so dull. Then there are also the graphical and palette problems I already mentioned... This is not a bad hack, and is definitely one of the best I've seen thus far. However, I believe it just has too many flaws to be considered great. Above average, definitely... But SMW hacks can be much, much better. More to come likely once I finish the hack, which won't be for awhile as I just can't stand to play a lot of this in one go... Because yeah, this hack is just ruined by the pacing issues. Edit 2: But i already find level 5 when i explore the level nine trying to find the fire breckable block. P.D: The crazy castle level really rlz. *goes to play* Edit 3: I'm already in level 5 but there isn't nothing to do (edited by sergio on 12-31-06 07:35 PM) (edited by sergio on 12-31-06 09:13 PM) (edited by sergio on 12-31-06 09:15 PM) (edited by sergio on 12-31-06 09:31 PM) |

Yes, there are a few problems with the Locked Door blocks. Go back and get the key again.

Originally posted by sergio The question you should maybe ask is, where's level 5? You have 0,1,2,3,4,6,7,8,9 & 10, but no 5. And is there really no level 5? Btw, yeah the problems with the blocks sucks. I noticed the same thing with the "add 50/10"-seconds-blocks. You know I had an idea for an Sonic-styled underwater-level (with Labyrinth-Zone-GFX of course) and I created some airbubble-GFX, so that you can breath underwater, because they add some new time to the counter, but most of the time they just doesn't work, so the only thing I could do was to forget about that. Hm, and about the key-blocks, it would be probably a good idea to add that in the Readme. I haven't realized, that this problem is so big, I've never read something about that on this board until now. |

What exactly is wrong with the key/time blocks? They've always worked for me.

Sometimes (in this particular hack -- I've never seen them used in any others) the key doesn't set the bit properly, and you have to go back and get it. |
