Yeesh... This thing just came up a few seconds ago. I was editing the colors of a tile in YY-CHR. I would save it, then insert the file back into my hack (It's an ExGFX file, by the way), but... FOR SOME REASON, THE PIXELS I CHANGED KEEP REVERTING BACK TO THEIR ORIGINAL COLORS!!! I'm REALLY mad right now, because I don't see why YY-CHR won't save my changes. I keep clicking on the save button. I click on Save under the File menu. I EVEN CHOOSE SAVE AS, AND IT STILL WON'T SAVE MY CHANGES!! This is REALLY bugging me, so I need to be able to fix this ASAP. Does anyone know what in the world is going on?!

Wait, are you editing the palette in YY-CHR and expecting those colors to be saved into the ExGFX file, or are you editing the tiles in YY-CHR and then inserting them into the hack and their not loading?

Let's get the simple stuff out of the way first:

1. Did you change to a different level and load up the level again after inserting the ExGFX? That usually refreshes the graphics in LM.
2. Did you save the graphics in YY-CHR?
3. Did you need to change the Map16 settings?

First off, I was editing the Doomship GFX to fit the SMB3 palettes. Second, I was editing the TILES in YY-CHR.

1: Yes, I did that. No change seen whatsoever.
2: I already told you, I did it THREE DIFFERENT WAYS. That's what happens when you don't read someone's post all the way through....
3: Wait, what? What in the world do you mean?

And for the record, AFTER SAVING IN YY-CHR, IF I CLOSE THE PROGRAM, OPEN IT AGAIN, AND CHOOSE THE SAME EXGFX FILE, THE TILES WILL REVERT BACK TO WHAT THEY WERE LIKE BEFORE I CHANGED THEM! Saving is broken now! NOTHING I TRY HAS WORKED. I need a solution, or I'm going to have a tile that has a little bit of gray in the bottom-right corner. Oh, just so you know, it's that cannon seen on the Airships in SMB3. (I'm using the shooters from SpriteTool along with ExGFX to make an actual Cannon that shoots cannonballs. )

I never use that for editing tiles, only for finding which 8x8 tiles are where so I can put them in a 16x16 tile. But I'll try that.

Edit: Wow, I can't believe that actually worked. O_o Thanks for reminding me that I CAN save my changes in the 8x8 Tile Editor! XD

I've run into something kind of similar where no matter how many times I try to change my Koopaling graphics, the game still uses the old ones. The new graphics show up properly if I look at them in the 8x8 tile viewer, but they don't in-game. It's weird. No problem with YY-Chr not saving, my hack just likes my old Koopaling graphics, I guess. (shrugs)

You're not trying to use ExGFX files in the Koopaling levels, are you?

Nah. Lemmy and Wendy are the only Koopalings with which you can use ExGfx, right? I'm having problems with Ludwig and plain Gfx files. I've got Ludwig using palette B, so I figured I could use the green tones from the berry to make his head a different color than his hair. I went to a TEST level and set SP3 to Gfx0B in order to take this shot of my 8x8 editor:



Note the green around the little bugger's face. And here's how he looks during actual gameplay:



His face is still blue. For some reason, the graphics changes aren't working, but only for the Koopalings. It's not a huge inconvenience, so I'm not too worried about it, but it's awfully weird...

For some reason, LM can't convert certain graphics to 4bpp, and I'm pretty sure that includes all the Mode 7 tiles. It just remaps them to the first 7 colors of the palette.

I seem to remember hearing Mode7 can't be 4bpp.
