I'm not sure. I wasn't working and I didn't look too closely. We might have just told the people waiting.

We got 6, and yeah, we have controllers too. Looks like Nintendo realized there weren't enough getting around.

There was a sign on the door, but there was still 15 people out front when I got there in the morning. Apparantly they didn't look at the door...

When I pulled into work at 7:30am (yea, I like to get in early to work on stuff) I asked who wanting a Wii and said that I only had 7 and the rest should just go home.

People need to learn how to read signs.

...Am I the only person here who wants a Wii and doesn't have it yet?

At this rate it'll be old news when I get it. I mean, Anya has one, Kirbynite finally has one, Danielle might end up with one...

I don't think it has to do with reading (or paying attention).

At the Best Buy I camped out at, a group of people knew how many Wiis were inside the building because their friend who works there counted the stock several times.

When the line reached the limit, we kindly told people that they're risking a let down if they stay there, and they all left. When 4 o'clock rolled around, some workers and a manager came by, and, after checking how much they had in stock, told us that there were, in fact, 18. Most of us then proceeded to try to sleep after she handed us that week's flyers.

Later on, people started to arrive (I think maybe around five or six), but for some strange reason, they stayed even after we told them the manager told us there were only 18. More people kept lining up, and when the manager handed out tickets, the people crowded around her when the tickets ran out, questioning her.

I didn't stick around to figure out if they were asking stupid questions. I just went to enjoy a nice meal at Denny's.

You are right. It is the software that matters, and companies are smart. They know that people love realism, which is why games like Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which requires a pretty high end computer to run, exist.

I'm not saying that Sony won't dominate this generation. I'm saying that if they do it won't be because of the cell processor or Bluray drive. If hardware was what mattered Sony wouldn't have been on top the last two generations.

A lot of people will rush out and buy one on specs alone, but most will wait and buy the system that has the games they want to play available for it. And that won't necessarily be the ones with the best graphics. Sure, stunning, ultra-realist graphics are nice, and they're a great way to draw people in, but like motion sensing controller, its a gimmick. If the game isn't fun (the whole point of games) people will lose interest.

I don't know what system will win out in the end, but narrowing it down to specs is ignoring the reality of the last 25 years of the industry.

You're not the only one, Colin

And the problem with really high-end games is that for eeryone I have met in real life, they high-end themselves out of playability. No-one I know in real life can afford a computer that can run those games.

I check the Amazon and Future Shop websites every day to see if, by some miracle, they happen to have one available (which they obviously don't).

Assuming I don't manage to land one that way, I'll get one once the christmas rush dies down.

In the meantime, I do have Twilight Princess and Trauma Center, and I ordered a Classic Controller yesterday.

Just have nothing to use them with.

Yeah, I was quite impressed with the way I found out about that. I woke up went in to my front room to iron a shirt for work and the Wii was glowing a dim blue. So I turned it on and had a message from Nintendo telling me that the Forecast channel was ready.

Zidane.

Gamecubes can survive being dropped out a two-story window onto the ground below. And even the DS Lite is more of a tank than the PSP will ever be.

Experience is a good teacher, not a kind one.

Now, I am particularly angered at your comment about fanboyism and graphics. You're suggesting that people will more often flock to a game that has impressive graphics and sound, as opposed to excellent gameplay.

The issue here is that, well, you're right and that's what makes me mad. I hate to see people buy copies of The Cheetah Girls and The Suite Life of Zack and Cody: Tipton Trouble, yes, but at the same time it grinds my gears even more to see people pass up games like Shadow of the Collossus (a very visually impressive game that also had the benefit of being AWESOME) and God of War in favor of pretty shit like Pimp My Ride and Tom Clancy's Vegas.

The Wii I can admire. I can enjoy its presence in my bedroom because of things like the Virtual Console and Wii Sports. I have yet to get bored with Wii bowling, and any opportunity to play Gunstar Heroes again in its complete, full, pristine, perfect, colorful glory is beyond awesome, even if the graphics are only sprites instead of ultra-realistic rendered models. Now, I'm not trying to be "old school" or "elitist" here, the fact of the matter is that some old games are FUN. Some old games are absolute crap, crappier than the crappiest crap that could ever be crapped out of a crappy game crapper's crapper, but that applies to the modern day, too. There's always gonna be games that look pretty but play like a cow on skates. If people don't wanna side with the fanboy, then they're the ones losing out...

The fanboy's always gonna be able to play Gears of War, but the same may not apply to someone who just looks at an old game and thinks "Oh, that's not very pretty at all...".

I'm still secretly hoping someone has got me a Wii for xmas, but somehow I think that's unlikely. I know people who have had to be escorted by police from the local Toys R Us on sunday simply due to the extreme lack of consoles here (and the ensueing fights that break out due to it).

And if it does happen, as thankful as I would be, It would mean I wouldnt want to play Zelda until I get the Wii version (I've ordered the GC version). Which sucks a bit, but I can get over that...

Well, ideally, it'd be multiple times an hour. And I was looking around, and some places hadn't been updated for 11 hours.

So my Wii was blue this morning (again) and I noticed that I got a Mii sent by Kirbynite. Once I was in the screen that popped up to tell me, my controller stopped working. Even the 2nd controller won't respond. Now, I've only had this thing since Sunday and we've been playing it a lot since then, are the batteries that weak (I know the batteries tend to die fast but after two or so days?!)? I really don't have time to mess with the Wii right now (gotta go to work) but I wanted to see if anyone else was having this problem.

The pack in Batteries die fast, I'm currently powering them with rebranded Energicer.

Did anyone notice that the shop is faster?

I bought and downloaded Super Star Solder in less than a minute.
