I just have 3 bottles, all bomb bags, big wallet, big quiver and other stuff up to this point. I haven't had a chance to get the Hawkeye for awhile though.

I don't know if I'll even bother with funding the Castle Town Malo Mart.

Oh, and so far I don't recall getting a Game Over yet.

And the 2nd boss is seriously pathetic. I mean pathetic.

Yeah, online fixing. I'll believe that when I see it. It's probably a myth... just like an internet channel and a big library for the virtual console... things they should've had in place at launch.

Don't get me wrong, I'm impressed with the system. I just think if you're gonna launch something, launch it fully functional.

As far as the game goes... yeah, I could do it a lot faster. But it has ZERO replay value for me. I just haven't enjoyed it enough to go again. I liked Wind Waker way more, it wasn't dark... it was bright and upbeat and I loved the visual styling. I dug the artwork. (Yes, TP is way more in depth and has cooler accessories and gimmicks, but it's dark and too easy and... bleh. It's just not fun for me. I guess maybe the standard Metroid formula that they're using has gotten old to me.) Anyway, WW was fun, if a bit tedious with all the sailing. And I never could bring myself to replay it either. So I'm damn sure not gonna replay TP. I've got homework and projects and kitbashes to work on anyway, can't afford to waste any more time on it.

I'd play from someone else's save... but then I'd not know which poes and heart pieces were collected and which weren't. No thanks.
I imagine I'll use the Wii for Smash Bros. and Metroid... which is all I ever ended up using my GC for. Meh. I think I much prefer handhelds. I get a lot of use out of my DS. Maybe I should go pick up the new Castlevania and FF3 to cheer me up =P

I still don't see how so many people say Twilight Princess is "dark". Sure, I guess maybe more than other Zelda games ... but I'd go to say Majora's Mask, and maybe even Ocarina of Time seemed "darker" at times. Its just nothing that would give even younger kids a nightmare. Unless they're weird.

Anyways, Portrait of Ruin is great. That should definitely make you happy, just don't expect too long of a game like most Castlevania'a.

But I'm liking it more than DoS so far.

I meant visually dark. The colors are muted, there's a lot of shadow... and nothing's really crisp. It's all kinda blurry.
I liked the bright colors, hard edges, and cell shading of WW better.

Got my Wii on the friday and been playing Zelda all weekend.

Loving the new controls and the game in general is a very impressive step up from Wind Waker.

I took a fair bit of notice of the things people complained about in reviews, mainly the sound issues with voice acting and lack of orchestrated music but having actually played the game and understanding the limitation of the gamecube media, which people seem to forget, i don't have any issue with the audio.

20 hours in and I've just started the 4th dungeon which looks pretty cool.

I find it odd people always refer to OoT when talking about the game but throughout I keep noticing nods to all 3 of the 3D Zeldas. Graphics are closer to Majora's Mask IMO along with a lot of the atmosphere and plot elements (defending a horse and cart for example).

On the wii version of Twilight Princess, link is right handed due to the wiimote, whereas on the Gamecube version he is left handed.

The thing is, instead of simply remodelling the link character and changing the programming for link to be right handed on the wii version, Nintendo took the 'easier' route and flipped the entire game sideways.

So basically, I'm getting the gamecube version next week, and then the wii version next year when i get a wii.

I'm going to end up so fucking confused though when i get the wii version, what with all the areas in the game being a mirror image to the ones in the GC version.

Well, I still haven't been playing as much as I'd like, but...

Spoiler (item&dungeon):I've got the Magic Armor, which seems kinda useless, and I've just gotten to the City in the Sky.

What do you mean, 'easier'? Obviously it's easier to mirror the graphics and flip left and right in control than it is to redo every bloody animation, change the way doors line up, change enemy reactions, change the hitboxes, etc.

Yeah. That dungeon is actually fun, challenging, and long.

They wanted it to be more accessible to right-handed people, who are in the majority. So, they made Link right-handed... And the easiest way to do that was to reflect the graphics (save the HUD and the text) across the Y axis.

He is going to be confused because he's getting both and when he plays the Wii version after the Gamecube version everything will be in the wrong place.

I's wondering. Would flipping the graphics have been easy and quick, or would there have been someone going through every object and code in the game changing one value OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

I suspect, and hope, that its the latter.

The latter, most obviously.

Flipping textures around is easy as pie, but I'm also sure mirroring everything probably isn't too complicated either.

Maybe they duplicated the game and set some axis's to -1.
(works for some stuff)

Once again - the way Link interacts with many, many things in the game would have to be altered. Just changing the way he opens doors would be a pain. It's much more than just tedium.

Edit: But the real reason I came in here was to say that I beat the Cave of Ordeals with 3 hearts and no bottle use.

Two plus years of hype and the release of the GC version of LoZ, well, it sucked. Nintendo didn't produce enough copies b/c they figured everyone would want it on the Wii instead. So out of 76 reserves, I only got in 24. And that was on Tuesday. I think we only sold 4 copies so far.....

And that sucks that you didn't get enough to fill preorders, Anya. Corporate is dumb.

Yea, that thing is pretty sweet. We only got one copy in, and thankfully we sold it.
