I am rather curious if anyone around here plays tetris attack at all. I am a complete fan of the game, since it is such an intense multiplayer experience (when your opponent doesn't completely suck) and there is constantly room for improvement. As of now, my highest record is 28,000 something or another on time trial, level 2. It would be fun to play against someone on zsnes multiplayer.

Yea. There are definitely people that play that around here.

I haven't played in years but my record was about 31,000 in Time Trial and I'm sure Ace hit up to the 40s last I checked. He's also done a TAS, beating Marathon in 1 min or so with 99999. Best I've heard someone doing non-assisted, that I used to talk to, was about 80K in Pokemon Puzzle League.

Honestly, though, after the tournaments we've had...it hasn't been really much in terms of playing each other anymore. The fad kinda died. :\

Puyo Puyo and Tetris/Dr. Mario still work though.

Aye, I play occasionally. Used to play nightly before bed, then I started playing my keyboard instead at that time. I've hit 99999 in Endless in about 14 minutes, and my time trials have gotten up to 15,000ish. I've gotten far more practice in Vs., though.

Which reminds me that I want to challenge Hiryuu to a rematch sometime. I can do better than 2-18 this time... I think.

The first tournament was excellent because it was one of the few tournaments we had where virtually everyone participated and it all made sense.

The final four were Hiryuu, Danicess, Acmlm and someone else. I *think* that Hiryuu beat the someone else and Dani beat Acmlm. Then Hiryuu beat Dani to win and be the master.

It's the only tournament that we've ever finished but that was over four years ago.

I'm waaay out of practice. I haven't played a round since Colin in over a year.

What did you mean by that? I played you a little while back when you got your net back.

(If that's what you meant, then... meh.)

I'm quite positive we had a TA tourny like, a year ago that went all the way through. I was in it, and I lost to some noob 64k kid, and I remember getting pissed, and then Hiryuu won and I was like "Psh, tell me something thats news to me. Hiryuu winning anything is old news."

I play TA every once in a while, more when I'm at home and can play with my sister. My Time Trial record is somewhere around 42k in TA and 55k on Puzzle League (that one's still ranked on tetrisattack.net).

I joined this board around the time that a second tournament was being talked about (though I don't think it ever happened ), and I remember reading some of the archives of the first tournament. I don't think a second one ever started though.

Edit: Just tried playing again for the first time in about a month (on emulator, yes, but with an actual SNES controller and SmartJoy) and hit just under 40k on Time Trial. First time I've come close to 40k in a while; I usually average closer to 32k.

Sonicandtails, that one didn't finish. But it was assumed that Hiryuu would win, since Xk, Surlent, and myself were out (IIRC), and you and Colin weren't likely to beat him Hell, neither were the three of us, but at least we had a chance.

I think my best score in Time Trial was only around 28000 actually, and that was in early 2003 when some of the better players (40000 and above) were around and I tried to improve from my old fast combos (only scoring 3000) to chain sequences ... I really haven't played much since then

And yeah, about a year ago, I made a tool-assisted run where I scored 99999 in just over 1 minute:

Holy fuck. We need to see someone do that against the CPU on level 7.

Try CPU on Level 10 on PPL. That's a bit better.

I have to say, the level 10 cpu on PPL is really a joke and a disappointment, since it can't even play on 3-d mode without losing in less than 2 minutes. Also, it terms of how it compares with TA, it's about the same, which shouldn't be the case, since the N64 is a more powerful engine that should allow the AI to reach new heights. Well, anyway, it's quite interesting seeing that there are quite a few other skilled tetris attack players!

The PPL AI is made for 2-D mode; if you've played it on 2-D you'll know that it's several times harder than TA AI, if only because it knows how to keep itself alive by making garbage chains where the TA AI doesn't. As for the Puzzle League Lv. 20 CPU, it seems to be at least as good as if not better than the PPL Lv. 10 CPU, so if you want a challenge that's another good one to try.

Bah, here I was, congratulating myself on clearing hard on Tetris Attack without continuing yesterday.

I tried the level 7 CPU today. I got VERY close to beating it on the first try, and most likely the only reason I got close was because I could garbage chain and it couldn't. The processing lag helped a bit too, heh.

I've never played Pokemon Puzzle League, so I can't really say anything there.

3-D Mode itself is a joke. A friend of mine that's about the same standing as I am anymore and I went against each other in a match on level 1 just for the hell of it. We were bored and wanted to talk about a few things while watching animé at the same time. In the same regard, we wanted to see who would lose focus the most first and whatnot.

Well, my friend lost a match and we looked at the time. We both decided to call it quits on it.

The time was at the 59 minute mark when he lost.
