Brinstar = Metal mine Norfire = ? WS = ? Maradia = ? Kraids lair = Lair of the beast.( Not mine idea ) Lower norefire = Hell Last area (forgot name >.<) = Metroid breading central. --------------------------------------------------------- (>'')><(''<) (>'')><(''<) (>'')><(''<) (>'')><(''<) --------------------------------------------------------- Left to do? 1. Most parts of Lower norefire. 2. WS 3. Some parts of Maradia. 4. (last area) 5. Maby some bug/glitch fixing? 6. Varia --------------------------------------------------------- (>'')><(''<) (>'')><(''<) (>'')><(''<) (>'')><(''<) --------------------------------------------------------- Any Question and/or feed back post here. I can't speak for anyone else, but I certainly have absolutely no interest in this until you at *least* convert those images into links, if not directly embed them into the message. You're basically making us excersize and unduly large amount of effort to even see what your screenshots look like, and I for one am simply not going to indulge you.
Sorry. |

Brinstar's palette is UGLY. Seriously, make EACH part gray, to fit your "mine" theme. Or, to fit both a mine and ice theme, make it blue. PLEASE. And by the way, it's NORFAIR, not "Norefire". And the last area is called Tourian.

I have to agree, the hacks Palettes are terrible, like HORRIFYINGLY ugly, as if you broke the game bad.
Level design seems cluttered, though a few shots have an interesting layout. As for difficulty, do what I did in Redesign. I made the game 10 times easier while designing it. Yet even then people complained about it being hard. so whatever you do, do NOT make it hard for YOU. what you (the creator) find simple and easy, is HARD to IMPOSSIBLE to someone else. Lastley, fix the damn palettes! |

*agrees with Drewseph*
Those pallettes are just wrong....... interesting idea but first make better pallettes before anything else. |

I'd like to test it, I guess...but...dear gods...fix the pallettes, damn it No offense, but my eyes just commited hara-kiri. Go with flowy colors and beautiful ones (note Metroid is well known for its' design) instead of...whatever that is.
Level design looks good though. And like Drewseph said, don't make it harder. Make it easier. It will end up being harder, but if you try to make it harder yourself, it will end up being a nightmare. |

The palletes are just... nasty.
BUT, yes, I would try it. ~~ Edit - HAR HAR HAR. Work on Norfair. Make palletes pretty ??? Profit. (edited by Griff Morivan on 11-27-06 04:09 PM) |

(Weird=Different from what I'm used to seeing in SM.) But honestly, this hack's theme IS a nice idea, but your palettes are a bit off. Work on those more. And honestly, turn those simple text addresses into links. It's easier that way. Making us copy them into our address bars is going to flood the dropdown box with past sites we've visited with links to those pictures, which we don't want in our address bars. |

Heh, sorry for having misunderstood you then... I never played through Super Metroid beyond the first few areas and thus can't identify them by name very well... with your text in mind, I then thought of what screenshots have both blue and grey parts and concluded you referred to the first one.

hmmm...No one like my brinstar.....
Oh well =P Like it? Or do i haw to re-do it again? And no. This is not hard. But harder then normal super metroid. =) <->-<->-<->-<->-<->-<->-<->-<->-<->-<->-<->-<-> For the norfair. I'm not sure. I could change the pallets.....But not the lava. ;/ Any way if you want to test: |

It's definately better, however I would advise taking screenshots with the filter off. Because I for one never use it, and as such would like to know what your hack looks like with a standard render. Just a bit of advice, other than that just keep improving those pallettes. (edited by richyawyingtmv on 11-27-06 10:06 PM) |

So i started to edit Tourian a bit: New metroid. New super metroid. (still not done) [Edit]: Removed Mother brain pic. She look ugly. But i need to work some more on her.... That's all.... I'm going off this week end. But please test it and leave feed back. Also any idea on the color on norfair and lower norfair and WS. (or any idea) Post here. OMG! Mother Brain + LSD = ?!?!
I'm sorry. I just really can't get into these palletes. Many are very unattractive, and a couple are downright eyesore. |

This would be great to play high. On a large television. With strobe lights.
To be honest, it is kinda cool. Would be interesting to see how different colors change the experience of SM... (edited by Adagio on 12-01-06 11:05 PM) (edited by Adagio on 12-01-06 11:06 PM) |

Originally posted by Adagio I very much agree. Just looking at these screenshots I can already tell the experience would definitely change (for the better). I say the more "whacked out" the palettes, the more memorable the experience. I believe if you can give the impression of having changed level design by ONLY changing colors, that a "win." Don't get me wrong though, there most certainly is a balance between wackiness and stupid, I just don't think Green-Kirby has quite crossed that fine line..yet. Keep it up Green-Kirby, go all out! |

It looks cool... I might give this a look.
You say you want to make brinstar Ice... You could turn the plants into dark blue, to make them look like ice... (And the white and yellow suit looks exactly like what was supposed to be the varia suit in a hack I never started at all. XD) For wrecked ship... Make it like it is frozen or something, and make crateria with snow and stuff... |

>if you find a way to change the palette an area uses on a screen-to-screen
>basis, you should maybe change Brinstar to look more like the normal Brinstar >the closer you get to Norfair I don't think that's quite possible, but something close could be. Not only that, but it *may* not be too hard to implement. Instead of a screen-to-screen basis, I suggest having the palette change gradually as Samus moves across the room. Say she's all the way on the left and running right. As she runs right, the palettes could all shift towards the new values. No gradient would be visible, as this would affect all tiles equally. In any case if you're interested, let me know. As long as you'd have a use for it, I'll try to code it (as I'd have use for this too). |
