I'm not your plain old hacker. Instead, while i do hack, i also look at the wonder that is rom corruption. Sure, it's easy, but the results are often funny. Still, i WILL do hacks too, so don't worry. I'm an ameteur, so it's unlikely i'll post my first or second hack as they'll probably be bad , so anyway, hope i get approved ^-^

ROM corruption is just one method of hacking. Anyway if this is the same EvilMushroom as in IRC, he seems intelligent enough to me.

Trying to muscle in on my territory, eh?

Good to see somebody else sees the value in rom corruption, but it does more than just make silly stuff happen. If you work fast, and know what you are searching for, you can find almost anything in a rom you've never hacked before. What's more is that you can even use a rom corruptor to delete or change certain parts of a rom you want to re-code. For example, you could wipe out an entire map and start again from scratch, but instead of going into the hex editor and replacing the bytes one by one, you can corrupt a range and then exit the rom without reverting any of the changes.

Uh.. you can do that in just about any decent hex editor, too.
I used mine to wipe out entire banks of my SMW ROM to see how LM would react. Takes about 5 seconds. Ten if you need to change a setting or two.

lo^C

Notice when I say "seems intelligent enough" I mean "didn't make me think WTF, this guy is a total moron." Not just in this specific case.
