Let's put it this way:
Yes, I actually beat the whole game and got all Emeralds. |

Thing is, Thex, they didn't have to be that way. The graphics would have bee fine if the pallets weren't ruined. They could have used original samples. I mean, come on....Lttp did its sound right in the remake (I don't care what anyone says, it is the ONLY remake to date that has done that right), AND it gave the option for a brightness setting--the darkest setting using the original SNES pallet, and the lightest using that lame, GBA like pallet that gets defaulted to every port because they assume all the little 4 year olds they target these to are going to hurt their eyes trying to see.
Ugh. |

The Nomad came out, what, at least 6 years ago? Before the GBA, too.
So then, why is it that this ancient portable outdoes the more modern GBA at playing the game? I must also ask why they failed to get the tunes right, when in Sonic Advance, they had several good but not perfect translations of the old tunes on it. |

Originally posted by Metal Man88 To be fair, the Nomad was built for the specific purpose of playing Genesis games... You know, this probably would have been better if they had just shoved Sonic 1's levels into the Sonic Advance engine (which isn't perfect either, but seems to be better than this)- at the very least there could be a few more extras than simply Spindash... |

The Nomad was, as Imajin said... pretty much a portable Genesis. You didn't have to do anything to run a game on there.
It doesn't excuse the shoddy port, however. |

The worst part of all this is that Sonic Team did the port and they should be drawn and quartered for this.
Sonic Advance is fine, but it's the game of the year compared to this. |

Oh I'm playing FFV as well via VBA and it's quite the GOOD port.
It's neat to look at FFVA and Sonic Genesis... a really good/bad port side-by-side. |

Heh, yeah, it makes it worse that there's so many good ports out there. This isn't like they struggled because it's always hard; this was obviously something deliberately messed up. Somebody made a mistake... jus' like Sega to do that. | |||

Originally posted by Colin As am I, but I doubt you tried to hack the save file after missing a bestiary entry, and came out on top even after getting around jumbled data, missing data, other oddities, and a "checksum" of sorts. But, either way, it's an example of how a port *SHOULD* be done. In other news, I'd pay good money to see a port/remake of Actraiser. Fun game, it was. |

This is ... aaaahhhhhhh. I'd rather play Zelda 2.
Oh, Yoshi's Island was a fairly good remake, excellent sound quality first of all |

...What is with people saying that Zelda 2 is horrible?
I mean, I'll say that Sonic Genesis > Action 52. But then we're into murky territory. |

Because it, uh, sucked, Colin.
I actually have the GBA "emulated" version of it, and I think it's probably one of the worst Zelda games ever. Except the CD-I ones. Those were just plain wrong. (edited by Xkeeper on 11-19-06 08:21 PM) |
