I'm guessing, now that the old games are being resold by Nintendo, they're going to crack down a bit on emulation.

So, uh, what now?

Nintendo has always been all-out against emulation, even when it's legal.

Nintendo released the GBA classic NES series and they never said "let's destory all internet sites containing links to zelda, smb, metroid etc. roms."

Well, most people already have all the roms they need, so if that's the avenue you're going down... back them up.

No, they said "We politely ask all who emulate to please stop. It is our property and even if you bought it with your own good money it still belongs to us."

The only thing keeping them from saying what I had put up in my last post is the fact that it has been proven legal to back up any software as long as it does not go into the hands of those who done own the game in a physical form or have proof of having bought it.

PS I should be arrested... That is the longest run-on scentence I have ever made...

Well, before I don't see why we should have stopped emulating. I mean, it's not like these games were available to us anymore. But it's not like they have total control over the internet. I don't think theres a lot they can do about this.

Like I said... if you're REALLY worried that Nintendo's going to crack down on rom sites, then get the stuff now.

Virtual Console will not obsolete independent emulation simply because there is no way in hell they are going to be able to make the titles of every company available for the VC. There's too many companies to even begin doing this, and again reconsider that we're not even talking about emulating just one console. The SNES library is well over 1000 games, and the NES maybe double that, last I heard.

That, and we don't know if we'll even see unreleased US games like Terranigma, Seiken Densetsu 3, and whatnot.
