It's happened 3 times now, today being the third. I was going to ask a girl out today, but immediately before I do, I find out someone else already had the same day.
The first girl I know from school, but I couldn't really ask her out because I didn't have any connections to her except the internet, and I'm not going to do that. So I find out my friend has her number and I get it, but then he tells me that she already got a boyfriend that day. The second I had known since 7th grade, but I only became friends with her this year. So we became friends, then I was going to ask her out at the home football game, only to find out someone already asked her out earlier that day. Now the third, I started talking to last weekend. I knew her from school, too. We started talking at a ska concert last Saturday, and it was very obvious that she liked me. So I was going to ask her out today only to find out, well, I'm sure you can figure it out. Thus adding to my theory that the less I believe in luck, the more unluckier I become. This sucks. |

All I can say is that I was shot down a hell of a lot more times.
You really won't know unless you keep going. I mean it really doesn't help your confidence out when you strike out with women, I'm sure, but then that doesn't necessarily mean that particular lady was the right one for you at any given time. You won't know that until later on when you're IN the actual relationship. All I can really say is keep trying. If you're really looking, then you don't need me to tell you that. If you're like me and aren't really looking for anything at the time, then just go on with your normal life and stay happy with the people you know and care for. You don't need to necessarily have someone in your life to validate your existance through just to live a life. |

Well I wasn't technically shot down. I mean, I don't try to unless I've become well enough aquainted with them, but it looks like that method isn't working in my favor.
The worst part is that this all took place in under 2½ months. I know I don't need a relation to be happy, but I'd actually like to know what a successful relationship is like. Maybe I'm going about this whole deal wrong. |

Way I see it, it's different for everyone. Your idea of successful relationship could be completely different than someone else.
It'd really matter on what you want out of it. |

Originally posted by Millenia Yes, some want sex, some want company and some others actually want somebody to love. Fact of the matter is that somebody might be listening in on your conversations, then asking out the girl you like. If that happened once, that would be understandable, twice, ridiculous. Three times? Conspiracy! |

They can't listen in on conversations he doesn't have. He said he was going to ask whoever it was out at whatever time; not that he had mentioned it to anyone else. If it's a thought that never leaves his mind, how can anyone else hear it?
I don't have much to add, but I do know that feeling like you missed an opportunity because you waited is a very painful thing. Good luck in the future, it won't happen every time. |

No conspiracy, just horrible luck. Shit like this (but not usually as bad/annoying) happens to me all the time.

Eh, at least there's people worth dating where you live. Here is just PS3s, nice to look at, but terrible quality. I hate where I live, every girl is preppy, wannabe preppy, or just plain stoners. There's a few exceptions, but that's pretty much it down here. You should be quicker at asking the girls out.
Oh, and if by some chance Skreename comes back to this thread, I'm just said that because usually people tell their friends or at least best friends about the person they like. |

My advice, in the words of W.C. Fields: If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it

Hah. I'm not going to quit because I'm extremely unlucky. Hell, it'll probably happen again here soon. My problem is probably that I don't act quickly. I try to get them to trust and like me enough. It's not too hard, but it doesn't happen very often. |
