Who's gonna watch it today?

I want to, but I got other stuff to do. Looks really funny though, anybody who sees it please post if it's as good as I expect it to be.

I saw a preview of it during the TIFF private screenings (I am indeed that pimp) and it was absolutely blow-me-away awesome. If you like terrible humour or something similar...this is the film for you.

I have so many bones to pick with this. It's going to make the whole Ali G thing huge for starters, and now everybody is going to be all over it.

Two, it's going to make it impossible for Cohen to do anything else ever again.

Three, the humor that Cohen is using is shifted...dumbed down even, he's doing more high fives, acting even more foreign, just to appeal to a wider audience.

I'm going to see it, of course, as like the last Ali G segment feat. Borat...but after this, it's all over.

No, he is fully right. The humour of Borat (and his Albanian predecessor) came from the fact that he was used to unearth the vast stupidity inherent in society's peaks. Unfortunately it became popular and the character (particularly Ali G) became somehow RELATABLE for people...which I guess is the ultimate joke in the show. That what it has sought out to lampoon it has ended up offering kinship to. I actually am laughing at that. That the stupidity of society that it unearthed through representing its very depths enjoys watching itself be satirized. A Hero Cult of idiocy and ignorance perhaps?

I hated Ali G Indahouse, that movie was beyond stupid for me. A child's movie perhaps. I love the Ali G show, but the movie was terrible.

I just got back from this though and I loved it. Crude at its finest at times, but it rocked.

I can't imagine how he gets away with a lot of this stuff though.

I went earlier with a group of friends. The theater was a madhouse. We had to go to an 11 p.m. showing because the 10 p.m. show was sold out, and people lined up to get in the theater a while beforehand. Between getting our tickets and lining up, we went to a nearby Barnes and Noble for some coffee, and I wound up buying Maddox' Alphabet of Manliness while we were there. It helped pass the time standing in line outside the theater, and it was very appropriate pre-movie subject material.

The movie itself was well worth the hype. The crude humor cracked me up because it was unlike anything I'd ever seen before, and jokes weren't beaten into the ground or overdone for the sake of grossing out the audience. Borat's awkward English was consistently funny and made the content of the jokes all the more amusing. And the wrestling scene (I don't want to spoil it, but let's just say that you'll know it when you see it) had me gasping for breath because I was laughing that much. Of course, the rest of the packed theater was laughing throughout the movie, which added to the awesomeness of the experience.

That book is awesome .

I can't go to the movie, grrrrr. It's all sold out in every movie theater within a 10 mile radius.
