Oh yea, it's the same glitch it's just in another direction. Stepmania only checks music length for what it determines as a normal, long and marathon type file. When the steps are through or there is no more data in an SM file for a specific stage the song terminates, regardless of the length of music.

Well, that is how Stepmania determines Long and Marathon files. I don't think it was a glitch, its just how they wanted it to work. If the user isn't going to use a full song, the user should know to cut it. And if the user adds steps to a song when the song is over, it just seems wrong.

How much more rediculous would you look playing notes without a song?

Anyway, didn't do any DDR today. Went to Disney's Magic Kingdom.

They had a free game of Daytona USA going and one of the staff told me to participate. I was more than willing to, but another staff member wasn't paying attention and I didn't get to play. Disappointed, I walked off and went to the Dancing Stage feat. Disney Rave and put in money. Realizing that it didn't have hard difficulties or hard songs (or recognizable songs, for that matter) I was about to walk off when the guy who said I could get a free game of Daytona came over and apologized, stating that I could choose any game I wanted and give me a free round. I chose... uh... Pump It Up Exceed 2.

Now, he was nice enough letting me play one game free, however he gave me 6 rounds of Pump It Up, FREE OF CHARGE! That's a total of 18 songs if I played 3 songs each difficulty myself. I usually complain about PIU, but after playing it and getting the hang of it, I actually... enjoyed it. I did 3 rounds by myself and then my sister joined me for another. I got the Bonus Stage twice, so I got the hang of Normal at least. I had a crowd watching me and all I could think was "You think this is good?" The crowd that stayed the final time of play got to use my free credit I had left.

...yeah. New dancing game for me!

Double post, but meh.

Today during my club I actually passed Xepher Challenge. I think it was a B or C, I can't recall, but I do remember I had 217 or so Greats and 204 Perfects or something along the lines of that. Not bad for my first time completing it on that difficulty. It just... was harder to do at school since the mat did not like hardfloors. It responds better on carpet but moves too much. It won't move on hardfloors but it doesn't respond well.

Kind of... a double-edged sword... except with a pad...

Xepher Challenge, to me, represents a nice "transition 10" that DDR really needs more of. The stream parts are actually the easy stuff to me; the Twilight Zone (dahdah-dahdah-dahdah-dahdah-dah-dah-) parts are what I get tripped up on, partly because of the speed.

Additionally, musically, I can see why the song is so popular. I first heard it and was like "It's trying to be a more danceable 'One Winged Angel'. Huh."

Don't want to speculate on a rumor but I will. Apparently, there's one flying that 'In The Groove 2 was acquired by someone'. Legally, they're apparently not able to find out about this or something. They got bought.

Is RoXoR done with ITG or what's the story there? I'm reading this in the comments of the one thing about custom songs over on BMS.

I've heard this too. I remain skeptical for a number of reasons. EDIT: holy fucking shit.

In other news, my ITGPC and converter came today. I haven't played with it much other than installing the update and making sure the converter played nice with the game..more to come tomorrow.

Completed Xepher challenge twice today. I HAVE IT DOWN!
Plus I got the lyrics to it, and all I can say is is that it is one of the more... darker toned DDR songs I've seen...

And holy fucking shit, indeed.

There goes Anubis Expert style charts, then...

Oh shit, Konami bought it.

Oh crap.

Oh and I beat MAX 300 Heavy on my soft pad. 1.5x, note. 67 mill C.

God was I in pain.

...You think Konami payed them anything for those rights, or was it a "The party's over, guys" type of thing? I mean, I can't see Konami doing anything with ITG aside from maybe grabbing a few songs/ideas for DDR.

Probably bought. If memory serves, Konami sued RoXoR before and lost. This happening now gives me a really weird impression on the whole thing now.

If I remember correctly, this settlement regards the same suit that Hiryuu refered to (Konami never "lost", the suit just kind of languished in limbo for awhile).

Nonetheless, I agree with him that they probably compensated Roxor for it, if only because it sounds similar to what IBM does nowadays when it comes to these things (Which, when it's cheap enough, is "Hey,you're infringing on our (whatever), we'll give you some relatively small amount of money (under $25K) in return for you getting the hell away from our (whatever is being violated)." That's 99% of the time, anyway; the other 1% of the time, they throw the lawyers at them just to keep people honest.

Some have speculated that Konami will continue to release ITG as a form of self-competition (The overlap between ITG and DDR isn't really as great as you'd think). The problem with that theory is that Konami doesn't have Roxor--just the intellectual property that pertains to ITG2 (Which, really, no one is quite sure what that even means yet).

MAX 300 on soft is probably one of the easier Max's to do on soft pad. I passed it a while ago on an older soft mat (which completley died today after only 4 months of torture). I still haven't been able to do Maxx Unlimited on my soft pad, but if I can complete Xepher challenge a lot more often now, I should give that a try. The gallops should be easy now.

And people on BMS are complaining about the fate of ITG. They don't know what is going to happen, but if things do go well, then... well, we could possibly see some DDR songs have ITG Expert charts on ITG.
Hey, its a possibility.

So, brief review of ITGPC: Worth the cash (Even taking into account the likely necessity for a converter). Grab it while you still can.

ASIDE: MAX300 is probably one of the easier MAXes, period (Though I'd argue that it's probably easier to BS everything post-freeze on Unlimited).

I got to try out the R21 update today and dude it is SO cool to do one of your own simfiles and have regular players going "oh wow that is a really good chart for that song". Here's what I played mostly today:

Really easy 7 footer but those with access to an ITG2 R21 cab, play it, it's fun. I swear.

EDIT: This ITG thing gets very dramatic. Now nobody is sure what is going to happen...

Still like Xepher Challenge. Everytime I do it I pass with a B, so I've got the steps. Now, to try Chaos.
