Man, that free speech thing was really getting on my nerves. I'm glad we don't have to worry with such nonsense anymore. The first amendment totally sucks. I'm glad such wonderful presidents like Bush are able to put a stop to things such as this. in case you honestly couldn't tell, yes, this post is dripping with sarcasm >_< |

It's not a free speech issue, it's a security issue. The problem was that a part of the goverment put a picture with "kill bush" scrawled across it by a 14-year old girl was an actual threat. Never assume malice when stupidity will suffice.
If you the government's so into internet censorship, remind me... who, exactly, pops up when you feed "incompetent" into Google and click "I'm Feeling Lucky"? Make a proper article link next time, too. |

Oh man, that's bad. If you're going to question the girl at school then don't lie to the parents, that's just bad form. And who yells at a 14 year old girl, come on secret service, be professional. Good point Glyph, I think we have a serious problem when a myspace page is assessed as an actuall threat to the president. I didn't see the picture, but it was probably horribly photoshoped, and when you find out it's a 14 year old rich girl, a letter saying don't do that, we don't like it, would probably suffice, no need to have the government mad at you.

Secret Service: Onoes! A 14-year-old girl who has no clue what she's doing is speaking against the Bush Administration's way of doing things and threatening the President! We must find and torture her in one of our secret prisons so she reveals the location of an Al-Qaeda cell base that doesn't even exist! :O

Originally posted by Ice CirvanteDude, nobody cares that she's speaking against the President. Nobody said the SS did something just because she's a "rebel". They just took a threat seriously and did their job, even if they were overzealous, it is not a political issue as you so inaptly tried to make it. If you want to be a "rebel" against the current state of government, you should try harder to think of actual valid arguments instead of annoying emotional response. |

If they had to do this with everyone that wanted to do kill/hurt bush, well they couldn't.
Too much people. Anyway, I'm really not moving to the US. Not after the crap I've seen recently. |

Originally posted by Ice CirvanteYeah, I recognize the thick sarcasm as exemplified by "Onoes"... but your point of the post was to ridicule their response, and included in that is the implication that they went after her because she was "speaking against the President". Hence, my point that this is just an odd thing to try and use to make the President look stupid. |

Hey, you know what'd be great? If we had a forum for these kind of things. You know, where we could debate world affairs.

Originally posted by Ice CirvanteYe gods, man, that was a "threat". If anyone who just "kindly spoke out" against the president had to be investigated by the SS they'd have their feet so far up your ass by now you could hardly breathe. So, at least make some sort of point when saying this. They investigated her because a threat was made, and why would they give a shit if she was saying, like you seem to do, BUSH SUX LOLOLOL? They wouldn't.Originally posted by Dr_Death16 Originally posted by Ice CirvanteOh dear. Your education < HS equivalent. Originally posted by Dr_Death16 Titles mean nothing. You can have as many titles and degrees as you want, but if you fail at common sense, cause-effect relationships and the national budget, then you're still stupid. |

Originally posted by Ice CirvanteOkay, you're one step closer towards your emotionally charged opinion becoming important and meaningful. You need to move to the US (Puerto Ricans just don't have the impact or voice in our country as you might need), live here for a while depending on what you want to become (US Rep or Senator), get a full college degree, gather a following, make people who vote care about what you say, get voted in, gather friends in Congress, and THEN vote on issues. You can never be President, though, sorry.Originally posted by Dr_Death16 Otherwise your opinion really doesn't have any support whatsoever. You saying someone/something is stupid doesn't make it so, unless you have power over millions of people (just like you have been convinced by those opposed to Bush that he's "stupid"; otherwise you'd have no reason to think that because I doubt you even know what's going on as far as issues go (you said this yourself that you don't get much US political information "down there".) |

Bush is only maiming the education system so that when they figure out he cheated through school and has to go back to stay as the president, it'll be all the easier. (Eat that Hollywood.)
Seriously though, Bush isn't intelligent. He started a war with the wrong people, over nothing. The only reason he had any political ground to begin with is because his father was the president. Do you think Bush got into Yale on grades and academic merits? Also, you aren't allowed to speak about logic, you're posting on a board who's political manifestation is a gargantuan beast that leans to the left that is like some kind of monster that's so jacked in the left arm that it clearly whacks off to photos of John Kerry giving speeches. You don't expect people to call Bush stupid when he's well... being a moron? |

It is odd. Some of the worst thought out foreign policies that have ever graced the Oval Office have come from the minds of some of the smartest bureaucrats to have ever held any office.
Impatience killed the cats, in this case. |
