So you walk into a game store and there's two chicks there. You don't want to ask a question because deep in your mind you know that they know nothing about games. I mean, how the heck did they get their jobs anyway? But then you do ask, because you have to know or you'll die. And then, holy crap, they both know about games!
Do guys find that hot? ((and why have I been using that word (hot) a lot recently?)) |

Hot is a hot word! I found myself using it a lot lately too but in different ways..anyways.
At our local 'lil Gamestop I haven't seen any female workers . Every time I go there there's just these 3 guys. We shouldn't stereotype that these girls don't know anything about games , so guys should just ask. |

Well, I couldn't care less if a girl loved video games or not. I mean, yea, it would be awesome but I wouldn't exactly find it 'hot'.

Depends, if it was some horse faced girl then no amount of video game love would make her hot. If it was an attractive girl and she liked video games than it would be a plus.

I really don't know about that because I really never did what you said. It could be hot, but not that much. Actually I would be surprised if they knew about games.

I remember a year or so ago going to the EB at the mall here, and it was during Christmas. 4 people working, 3 of them female.
Granted, I didn't stick around to hear any of them talk about games, but I could see WHY they'd want to hire girls. Oh, and speaking of Paris... spoiled bitch. |

How often have I said that if you're a lady going to apply for a job at a gaming store that they'll be looked at first? If nothing else, it's advertising. Lilah? CAD? Remember how her character started out in the storyline? Yea. It's about the same as in real life.
I know for a fact that there are a small handul of people not from the same gender as I that could kick my ass in a game. So. Fucking. What? I own too many others. If a girl wants to play a game, fine. Not really working on my heartstrings seeing someone plung off the first hole in World 1-1. |

I think the whole "knowledge" thing is just a bonus. If they can get a remotely cute girl *and* she knows about games, then they're happy.
Hell, I saw a VERY cute girl on the subway yesterday, and upon further examination she was reading the Final Fantasy XI instruction manual. That's awesome and all, but I'm not going to base a relationship with a girl based on her gaming skills or lack thereof. She could play FFXI but be a total bitch, so... |

Girls working in games stores is getting more and more common these days now that the stores are just becomming more like your Virgin or HMV. In my experience, there's more girls getting employed at the moment than guys. I'm inclined to believe it's because managers think it's a really cool idea.
However, even gaming girls share the distrust and suspicion that guys have when talking to girls in a games store. Just as Chad used to have problems with guys asking her male counterparts when they didn't believe her when working in Gamestation, we both get suspicious when we see other girls working in game stores. |

When I was at my first store at GS, there were three chicks. The one quit and there was two. But the other one was a bit older and had a kid. Then she transfered to another store and then I was the only chick. Then I transfered to a store with one chick, also named Jennifer. She's pretty cool and the guys say that we get our numbers (reserves and subs) because we flirt or wear a certain piece of clothing. *ahem* So anyway, it was just us two chicks at the store for a few months and then we had to hire for holiday season. We're like, no more chicks, that two were enough. But of course the store manager hires another chick. She's cool and all, but then we're like, okay, no more, three is enough. Yea, chicks working in a v'store is nice, but we don't want the whole store to be filled with them. At least we know our stuff, 'tho.
Oh! The other day, I had this family into the store and the mother was up front talking to me and her 3 year old daughter was asleep in a stroller. We were talking about games. Another customer comes up and he's shocked until no end. He's all like, "But you're a mother!" I wasn't too shocked about it, but the guy couldn't let it go. I guess it was just too much for him to handle or something. |

My dream girl is someone who loves DDR.
...but for lower expectations, I guess my dream girl is anyone who will go out with me. Still zero. |

A girl who likes DDR would be the worst example for me. There are wayyyyy too many girls who play four footers while holding the bar and pushing their chest out. Although it is fun to show them up by doing a 9 footer on the opposite machine

I don't think there's anything weird about it. It's just the social expectations that state one of the following:
- Girls aren't supposed to play games; - Girls are only supposed to play certain types of games. If I remember correctly, apparently the most common games girls play are puzzlers and RPG's. Nothing wrong with those choices at all, either. |

I've told myself, from here on out as an 18 year old gaming addict, if I EVER see a nice / cool looking girl in a game store, I'm going to talk and get to know her.
But yeah, I think it's kind of sexy seeing female employee's at game stores, especially when they know their stuff. The girls that don't, and try to pronounce the games you buy and fail horribly, make me laugh (true story. Some girl named off the games my friend and I bought, and she failed horribly at pronouncing them correctly, which was kind of funny for me at least. "Vectar-men" heh ... ) (edited by Xeogred on 11-19-05 08:54 PM) |

Well, my girlfriend plays videogames, and another friend of mine works at GameStop, so I don't find it that weird.

Originally posted by Kasumi-Astra I meant girls who are good at DDR (8-10 footers average). ...I knew a girl who used to play DDR a lot, she was very sweet and and a good friend of mine. Unfortunately, she moved away to Las Vegas about a year ago, and I still miss her. (She took my favorite wristband) (edited by spel werdz rite on 04-12-06 01:59 PM) |
