When EBgames started calling people to preorder the wii
they didnt called me but I still went there now when I reached the store
they told me they had all wii's preordered already
so I lost the chance of getting a wii.
Now today my neighboor offers me a trade:
I give him 250.00 dollars + six DS games
He gives me his wii already payed.

EBgames told me they wont get any more wii's
untill January or something like that
so is the trade worth it or not?

I also have Zelda Twilight Princess preordered for the wii.

So, let me ask you... are you really that unintelligent?

The Wii is worth about 250 dollars itself. DS games added on are (at the least) 20 bucks a piece used. So, you're paying at the least 370 dollars. For a new game console. That hasn't come out yet. This guy is going to pull a number on you if you do this deal. Are you a freakin' fanboy that bad or what?

Sadly yes.

But Im not giving him any good games either:

Nintendogs
Yoshi Touch and Go
Wario ware
Rayman
Sprung
The Sims

Also he has the wii payed and there
is no store left with a wii (except Kmart and stores
like that, that sale them at about 400 dollars)

Instant fail for that game being listed as no good.

What? Kmart has to sell it at the advertised price. They can't sell it for more. If that was the case, I would have spent more on my DS on the first day it came out since I got it at Target. That is what you would call "price gouging".

If you have to get rid of games you don't like, don't do this deal. Don't.
He is ripping you off. Even if he has the Wii payed off, you have the 250 dollars to buy it full yourself and you can do whatever you want with the games, such as trade them in yourself, which is what he would probably do with them...

Technicaly they can sell it for more. The $250 price point is just MSRP (Manufacture suggested Retail Price). Noting that, it is increadibly (and not just increadibly like a lot, but an inordinate amount) bad business to increases prices much above MSRP because of high demands. Sometimes stores will increase or decrease (more often decrease) prices within 10% of MSRP to move more units or capitalize on demand, but if a store moves much beyond that range then they are liable to lose a gross amount of consumers in that market.

Back on topic, if you really don't want the DS games, and you're okay with letting him sell those games for $120 (if that's really what you can sell used DS games for, I really have no idea) then I'd say do it. I gave one of my brothers friends 8 N64 games that I hadn't played in two years and didn't intend on playing to get RE Directors Cut, RE2 Dual Shock and RE Nemesis. This was like 6 years ago but I felt it was definately worth it because I'm a huge fan of RE and didn't care for the other games. If you really want the system and don't want the games then go for it.

Well thanks for the comments everyone,
I guess that I should just buy it for 400 dollars
in KB Toys and not waste more money
for a long time .

*holds head*

You're going to buy it for $249, end of story. That's the RETAIL PRICE and no chain store is going to go over that price unless they're offering bundles.

Not necessarily.

He never states that he is paying in American dollars, nor does he have a Location filled out that would imply such.

That said, I'm a geek and used a currency converter website to find out the approximate value of $250US converted to various other dollars (Those "dollars" in the top 85 currencies of the world...whatever that means). As of about 10:30PM EST on 10/16/06, that $250US will get you:

$284.40 Canadian;
$331.86 Australian;
$379.42 New Zealander;
$250 Bahamanian;
$498.75 Barbados;
$250 Bermudan;
$667.50 Eastern Carribean;
$432.53 Fijian;
$1,945.69 Hong Kongian;
$16,533.75 Jamaican;
$395.62 Singaporean;
$8,306.25 Taiwanian New, or
$1,562.63 Trinidad and Tobago.

So if he's from Singapore (Or a couple other countries), his paying in the neighborhood of $400 (Not necessarily US) is not at all unreasonable.

Think outside the box, people. Think outside the box.

Fair enough. I had kind of presumed as much by his mention of K-Mart (I have no idea what their foreign presence is like), but the exercise was still worthwhile to me.

I dunno... it could be the case that it would cost more in a place like Puerto Rico. I've heard in places like Guam and Hawaii things cost up to twice as much, just b/c of the extra difficulty of shipping it. Alaska, for example, has a high cost of living, but higher wages than the continental US. But these truisms usually assume to be talking about non durable goods like groceries... I don't know if this carries into such luxuries as home electronics. A K-Mart may be very well justified in charging that much.

It doesn't cost more in Puerto Rico. Not unless these places raises their prices while my back is turned. The most I have seen being added on is atleast $50 extra dollars to the US retail price.

$250 + $50 = $300

Last time I checked, we got the same prices as the US, give or take, in rare cases $50 or so.

Unless that changed, I have no clue what he is talking about.

Anyway, he should just check EB or Gamestop. They do exist on this island.

Did you read that? I lost my chance of preordering the wii.
And the overpriced wii is the one
they sell in KMart, KB Toys and stores like that.

Toys R Us is gonna present the second round of preorders for the Wii. So you can try to get it there.

I missed out on preordering the first time (due to the fact that I forgot to fix my alarm, of all days), so I'm gonna try to get it there.

And don't panic, yo. If you can't preorder at a place with a resonable pricetag, then you could just camp out on release day. I'm sure you've got just as much of a chance of acquiring a preorder as acquiring a Wii without a preorder.
