Probably because they're 3-2 and in the WAC. But I haven't heard a peep about Boise State, either...
Funny thing is, when playing NCAA Football 06, I've simulated years ahead in a Dynasty and the Warriors always end up as WAC Champs and they usually earn a BCS birth at one point or another (I've even saw Davone Hess win Heisman). Odd because they're not even that talented, especially on defense, in the game. Even for a WAC team.

When my dad told me IU beat no. 15 Iowa today I thought he was joking.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=262870084&confId=null

Apparently not... though we play at mighty Ohio State next week. There will be... riots if we somehow upset that. riots in Bloomington and probably murderous riots in Columbus.

The Terps finally beat a half-respectable team, so I'm happy again.

But I can't believe nobody is talking about the Miami vs FIU Brawl that happened. If you didn't see it, watch the streaming video on that site. It's fucking Ron Artest type shit. I don't even know what you say to this.

Yeah and I heard there are going to be some widespread suspensions (especially for the guy who took the helmet off and hit people with it and the guy who was stomping other players [reminiscent of Albert Haynesworth, perhaps?]). However, Miami's players were just stupid; this is Florida International we're talking about, they were well on their way to thrashing them, of course FIU is trying to cause problems because they knew they were not any challenge to Miami. This does look bad for Coker though; really bad, as if he's lost control of his team. See you later at the end of this season, Larry.

Oh man, Florida International University is SO not going to a bowl after that.

(Editor's note: This may be completely unrelated to the fact that they're 0-7. No connection there, nosirree.)

Yeah, that was ridiculous. No doubt that Coker is getting canned this year now.

So, USC barely got by Arizona State, and Michigan beat Penn State by 7, though I think they played better than the score indicates.

The BCS poll was released today, with Ohio State at the top, followed by USC and Michigan. The AP had the same top 3, albeit with Michigan and USC reversed.

I cannot wait for November 18th.

Oh God, the BCS is out, and the computers are rife with pure garbage yet again. Let's just take a look at where the computer puts people (there are five computer rankings, 25 the highest, 1 the lowest)

OSU - 23, 25, 23, 23, 23
USC - 25, 24, 25, 25, 25
Mich - 24, 23, 24, 24, 24

From this it appears the BCS got Michigan pretty much dead on, and gave USC OSU's rankings. I mean, come on, is there anyone out there that would even say USC is number one in any way shape or form. I always think it's funny how the standings get worked out with the BCS because they seem to be based on totaly irrelevant stats as opposed to actual quality of the teams. I'm not saying I want Mich to be ranked higher, no, not at all, but I also hate USC so I don't like seeing them being given anything beyond what they deserve. Basically, we need to go back to the good old days where there were two polls and that was it, but I do think that coaches that don't watch other games should give their vote to writers and sportscasters who do watch the games.

Ranked "beyond what they deserve"? They are still undefeated. Since there's still a good number of undefeated teams out there, I don't think anyone knows what they really do or don't deserve. Not until they play some more games against good teams, at least.

The early rankings are always rubbish. Fortunately they don't matter until they end of the year.

And actually, the top 3 as-is doesn't really matter at all what order it's in, since Ohio State and Michigan play each other, so USC and the winner would play for the title.

A lot of the time, the AD or someone else will cast the vote for the coach, since the coaches don't get to watch a lot of other games.

Oh yeah... I missed this.

Know which two teams ESPN picked to go to the national title game?

Notre Dame and Miami... one of which has already lost, and one of which is even unranked now.

90% of the sportscasters and writers out there know jack shit about the game... A large number of them have never even played the game. I would never trust a person who never coached on a college / professional level to decide what teams are the best.

Sports writers might not be able to predict who would go where at the begining of the season but still, they do watch most of the games and have a lot more perspective on all the games going on in the nation than coaches, or even ADs. It's just something I think should be done, but I don't really think the coaches poll is that off.

My point about USC is that they aren't playing well, they are in a weaker conference (I hate having to admit that the PAC-10 isn't as good, but who would ever disagree that Mich is in a harder conference) And they barely beat Washington. The BCS doesn't matter now, that was a good point, it only maters at the end of the season, but I will say that USC will not be 2nd by the end of the season, USC will lose to ND, Cal, or Oregon before the season ends, and probably to more than one, maybe even all three, it's not that out of the question.

Also, ND still has a chance of getting up there if we win out and a few more teams lose, it's not out of the question yet, but we will have to have more impressive wins if we want it.

Haha, I've been on the ESPN message boards, and people were trying to argue whether Michigan or OSU was better, and this one guy made an awesome tongue in cheek post:

The transitive law of football is true.

And sorry UL, WVU, Michigan, Boise, USC, and the rest

1. tOSU beat Matthew McConnahay (on the sidelines of the Tex game)
2. McConnahay>Kevin Bacon (Dazed and Confused v. Footloose)
3. Six degrees of separation Bacon> Mark Hamill
4. Therefore tOSU blew up the Death Star (transitive law of football)

Did any other school blow up the Death Star? I don't think so.

Therefore OSU #1.

I really think Georgia is done. First they lose to Tennessee, then Vanderbilt, next some B.F.E. team.

Anybody hear Donna Shalala(President of Miami University) on Mike and Mike on ESPN radio / podcasts. I think that the penalties given to those in the fight were definitely not given harsh enough punishment. One game (and against Duke, a bad high school team could beat Duke, sorry Duke people, but you know it's true) isn't really a penalty for the team or the players. I think most of them should be suspended for the rest of the season (some might say that's too harsh, but one game is definitely not enough). Anyways, Shalala said the penalties were good enough, but said that there was no difference between stomping on someone and hitting with fists. And to top it all off, she didn't even look at the tape because she was too upset about the situation and didn't want to rewatch the fight. Best bit on ESPN.com was someone appologizing to the players of Miami of the late 80's early 90's for comparing the current team to them, though they might be similarly thuggish, at least the old teams used to win.

So, let's see...

Miami almost lost to Duke, which even being down 13 players is kind of laughable.

Ohio State rolled over Indiana, maintaining its across-the-board #1 ranking.

Michigan won a hard-fought game against Iowa, but USC's inactivity allowed them to jump up to #2 in the BCS.
(less than 26 days....)

Notre Dame won, keeping its BCS hopes alive

West Virginia and Louisville both remain undefeated heading into their matchup.

Otherwise there were a few more close games, but no real upsets.

God, what a increadibly stressful weekend, I think I actually dying and then was saved from it in the last minute of that game. Why does ND play like shit except for when it's absolutely necessary, or against Michigan. So, who do you think the two people are who are voting for WV as number one in the AP?

Oh, am I waiting for the Ohio State/Michigan game... which is going to be great, with Manningham back. Also really looking forward to the Thursday night matchup of WVU and Louisville, even though it looks like WVU will handle them based on recent play. Potential for some real classics right there.
