Hi, I was wondering if any of you knew of any assembly tutorials that DO NOT deal with Windows. Preferably 32bit (non HLA).. I've found Thomas Bleeker's intro, but it's pretty short and Art of Assembly is 16bit-ish.

Thanks,

- Steve

you can check out the lecture slides of this class if you want an introduction to assembly. This class uses MIPS R2000 as the example assembly language and does not introduce any notion of operating system at all.

There is a MIPS R2000 simulator you can try out as well--found here

what kind of assembly are you looking for?

Assembly as in machine code? ie x86:

CODE:00401120 loc_401120: ; CODE XREF: sub_40109C+7Cj
CODE:00401120 mov eax, ds:dword_402168
CODE:00401125 mov ebx, ds:dword_40216C
CODE:0040112B xor eax, ebx
CODE:0040112D xor eax, ds:dword_402182
CODE:00401133 or eax, 40404040h
CODE:00401138 and eax, 77777777h
CODE:0040113D xor eax, ds:dword_402179
CODE:00401143 xor eax, ds:dword_40217D
CODE:00401149 jnz short loc_40111A ; NO JUMP // FL Z true
CODE:0040114B call sub_40117B ; call
CODE:00401150 retn

cause, HLA is pretty boring IMO, and since that tutorial is HLA, which isnt really assembly, you would be better off learning something like C.
