Okay I've been Making A smw hack, sadly the rom that I've only had and been able to hack is smas+W .

Programs:

I've only had Lunar Magic, but since I only had this one program I know how to use it verry well.

Infomation:

I have done a few level hacks so far I only finished one level though I think its good. But I havent done enough to release a demo yet. :/

I will be adding new levels to the world map and also trying to edit every level in the game.

But There is a video of the first level I made and you can veiw it Here .

I will be making the game level, hard.

Also I will be trying to update the game as much as possible.

Now I know This hack may be not as great as some of you all have done but thats only because the only program I have is Lunar Magic, But if you all want you can also put some links to a place where I can get a good sprite/graphics editing program to help me make my game better.

Here as some screen shots

Use a koopa shell to knock on the box at the bottom block to release vine tree thingy :/. You can use the shell that follows you or you could use one of the other koopa troopas shells thats in that area.

If your having trouble getting up to the pipe in the clouds use this pipe to reload the bad guys.

If you want to see the full level you can watch the video.

YAY updated pictures of the next level I will be making!

I will be adding more soon once more of the level is done.

edit by blackhole89: nuked the red font. It is awful to read and annoying. Refrain from using that in the future.

That actually isn't too bad. I was going to say that you should add more obstacles or enemies, but I guess its fine considering that it's only the first level.

If I were you, I would change the overworld. I don't really like the original one.

Yeah I was planning on doing a overworld wipe and remaking everything some time during the hack. ( I also made that first level look easy when I played it but its really alot harder then it looks.. )

First screenshot: Nothing too terribly wrong here. You do know that green berries give additional time, right?
Second screenshot: Interesting strategy you've got here. Could be executed a bit better, but it's not TOO bad.
Third screenshot: Eh.
Video: I don't do videos. They lag on school PCs, and I use dialup at home.

All in all, you're not too bad. You could use some improvements, sure, but it's at least appearing to be playable.

Not necessarily. A well done video can trump screenshots any day of the week. Of course, it has to have meaning, and have content not expressable in still shows (e.g. no slideshows). Something like a video of playing a level at a snail's pace or something isn't all right, however.

01: Not too bad, although I'm not a fan of that kind of berry formation on bushes.
02: It's okay.
03: Seems a bit fair, although honestly, this puzzle is more of a castle thing.
Video: Pipes on clouds isn't a very good thing. Turn off the "music override" so the track doesn't restart when you go back to the level from the forest sub-area. You should fix the pirahna plant's graphic; having only the head emerge from the pipe looks bad. Bouncing Rex heads is bad. That long, plain straightway at the end looks bad as well.

It's not always the graphics... sometimes if you set up enough puzzles and challenging events it can be fun even aside from the typical super GFX hacks!!!

But neat palettes don't hurt either...

Well about the graphics..If you were to read the first post I made you would have kown I do NOT have a graphic editing program and most of the ones i found here don't seem to be working verry well for me.

the multi berries I was kinda rushing to just put anything on it but I can fix it.

And the long straightway part I was planning on adding a few things there before I releace the demo.

And as I said if anyone knowa a GOOD sprite and/or Tile editing program please put a link down so I can get it.

yes I know green barries add time, I did that because the first part may take you some time and if you had a yoshi with you you could add more time.

Now this is for everyone.

I'm not perfect so, not everything is going to be the greatest you ever seen in life.

I know I'm made a few errors with the level and there also some graphic errors But I just want to make this clear. I do not have any good graphic editing programs I have looked here and all I could come up with is sprite tool and I don't know how to use it, so please do not critisice for not having GREAT graphics.

Screenshot 4: Needs some detail.
Screenshot 5: Needs some detail. Do those platforms necessarily need to be there? Maybe it'd look better if you'd put them over a pit, or something.

By detail, I mean things like bushes, flowers, etc. If you claim they'd be dead, just change the colors of them, maybe use different tiles. There's really no excuse to having no ground decorations (unless you're out of tile room... But, that doesn't seem to be the case here. Just make a copy of the GFX file with that ground in it, and replace the tiles you won't be using with the tiles you WILL use. Just rename the copy to ExGFX??.bin, toss it into your ExGraphics folder, and insert it.)

Bloodstar I don't think I will be needing level decorations for the way i'm going to build it.

Okay I've edited the title screen into a new opening i'm going to use that one for the demo, I made a video also of it you can watch it Here. (I will be adding pictures soon)

About your title screen -
Just a suggestion, spice it up a bit; Use ExAnimated pallete frames to animate the colors (like in Demo World TLC); change that wooden border cuz its actually glitched (doesn't cover the bottom 2 pixels, even on the original.) If you suck with graphics, just use the status bar border and choose a cool color for it. The tiles are already there, and it will make it more unique and only takes like 5 minutes to do. Also, if you didn't know, making the level transparent makes your title screen overlay transparent as well. Just a thought.

Seen from the SSs, it isn't bad, but it is a little bland, isn't it?
IMPORTANT NOTE: PLEASE DON'T USE SMAS+SMW ROM BECAUSE IT DOESN'T HAVE MANY SPACES AND YOU CAN ONLY MAKE AS MANY AS ABOUT 9 LEVELS.
PLEASE FIND ANOTHER SMW ROM TO EDIT.

Eh, that's not really true. When I made my first SMW hack, I used a SMW+SMAS ROM, and I made up to at least 20 levels in it, and I could have kept going. I know there are a few defects in the SMAS ROM, but I never actually found them when I made mine

Of course, when everyone told me to change, I just extracted the levels and put them into a regular SMW ROM. Which I suggest you do too Sypher - but not for the level reason.

Plus, you won't be able to install any downloadable ASM hacks, and you won't be able to use the same ROM offset list.

That's really only an issue for upper intermediate or advanced rom hackers, though. Nevertheless, there's really only one reason to use the SMAS+W ROM - to make one big megahack, that is, if you have the patience and skill.
