Xkeeper: from the known bugs detailed in the readme:
"-the color fadeout at the end of a level is messed up. (BMF's fadefix patch don't seem work with my hack )" |

With all the ASM haxxing he's done, I'm sure he could've fixed something that is a recurring problem in all levels instead of worring about finishing one level for once.
Thgat doesn't explain the totally broken fadeout, though. |

It should also be noted that, outside of the very first level, I ran into no catgirls.
This is false advertising. Especially considering he's supposed to be trapped on an island full of them. |

Part of me wants to say "just use freaking Snes9x", but the other wants to smack ghettoyouth for not making it work correctly in both emulators. Snes9x hasn't given me problems with this hack up until now, but I understand that there are some people who prefer ZSNES, and they deserve our support too, y'know? |

Originally posted by Ice Cirvante If ghettoyouth's hack could work on a real SNES, then it's all good and I support his choice. It doesn't matter whether there are problems with ZSNES, as they'll end up getting fixed. However, if his hack exploits one or more Snes9x specific issues to work correctly, then that's obviously wrong. I actually played the game with ZSNES (recent SVN), and didn't notice any real problem. |

he used the latest wip version of zsnes, so it's not my fault... (edited by ghettoyouth on 09-29-06 11:04 AM) |

The real question is: does it not work right because ZSNES has now an incorrect behavior, or because they corrected a wrong behavior you were taking advantage of ?
I guess checking whether your hack works the way you want it with bsnes would pretty much determine whether your hack is okay or not. |

I don't know, it just seems like if things worked before you screwed with them, and they stopped working afterwards, you should probably consider whatever it is you did broken and probably fix it.

Well, I played through the first world and it was fine... although the blue cape thing should have a level before or something where using it is totally harmless, like with the cape in orginal SMW.
And the Seiken Densutu catgirl clashes in style. :/ |

Snes9x sucks, and I don't see how ZSnes creates problems like spikes that hurt you from the side and missing goal tapes.

Those weren't his point. the spikes hurt mario from their flat sides, and the tape gave mario 50 points at halfway, I *think* it only used to give a maximum of 30 points.

Also the level with the thunderstorm looks neat, but I think it works better if you remove the music... it feels a bit dumb having happy music playing to bad weather.

Originally posted by ghettoyouth Uh, I'll use whatever emulator I want. If the hack totally breaks down in one emulator, I just don't play it. Most of the bugs that may have potentially been caused by ZSNES are extremely minor, and should not warrant an emulator switch. =\ |

Originally posted by StifuOriginally posted by Sukasa Possibly and definitely 50! I've done it a few times before. You see, if you hit the goal tape at the zenith of its scrolling by some miraculous feat of luck and timing, you get 50 stars and a 3-up. The 3-up is somewhat worrisome for people who are trying to limit the earning of extra lives in their hacks, since you can just go back to an easy goal tape and keep trying for the 3-up... unless someone's already figured out how to disable it. |
