Ok. I was recently given $2,400 to build a brand spank-the-monkey new computer for myself.

Here are the parts I have been looking at.
$107 Case - AeroCool ExtremEngine 3T (Black)
$230 Motherboard - ASUS P5B Deluxe WiFi/AP
$320 Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (overclocked to 3.6GHz)
$500 Memory - G.Skill DDR2 1066MHz 2GB Kit (4-4-4-5 timings)
$120 Hard Drive - Western Digital 250GB 16MB Cache SATA 3GB/s
$279 Sound Card - Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty (64MB of X-Ram, 24-bit crystalizer, etc)
$494 Video Card - eVGA GeForce 7950GX2 (1GB RAM, 512-bit GDDR3 memory, 48 pixel pipelines, and HDCP future proofing)
$380 Monitor - Samsung SyncMaster 22" Widescreen 5ms LCD with HDCP (did I mention it's huge? *currently using 15" monitor )

Thoughts and suggestions would be highly appreciated.

I'd buy three computers, customize them with cheaper, and but quality parts. Then assuming I have an internet connection, download SuSe Linux, shrink my Windows partition, add a ton of extra programs to them, and resell them for a higher price.

Or I'd buy one regular computer and one laptop, then run the internet and a wireless hub through the main one, so whenever I wanted I could use my laptop to access the internet around a similar area.

I'm sort of in a situation similar to the second one, actually, but the starting scenario was different. Right now I've a PC and two laptops. When I get to Spain, I'm going to make it so they're all networked (no router or twin ethernet port on any, so the laptops will be wirelessly communicating while the weaker is chained to my tower) so I can access the internet around where I may.

That's a budget computer? I'd hate to see what would happen if you went all out.

Yes that is a budget computer. The last time I went all out I ended up spending $10,000. Unfortunately I was building it for someone who wanted the absolute best and was rich.

So I gave it a 25% markup and am building this system.

That harddrive is a ripoff. You can get 300gb sata3 drives for less than that.

Really? I was just looking at retail items because the last time I bought OEM parts half of them were bad. Talk about a nightmare having to RMA $1,000 worth of computer parts.

Looks like it'll perform well, but the hard drive, motherboard, sound card, and memory look like a ripoff.

If my Canadian to American conversions are correct (which I'm sure they aren't), you could probably get a 300gb Seagate for around the price of that 250 WD.

We have NCIX.com and TigerDirect.ca. They give us some pretty good deals too.

The motherboard I chose because it is the best throughtput (spelling?) overclocking board for the price right now. The G.Skill / Patriot (whatever is available on newegg at the time will eventually have 3-4-3-5 timings on them. The HDD will probably be switched out for two OEM drives while the sound card is staying. I really crystal clear audio.
