This is my tetris layout featuring the pieces from GameBoy, what do you think? I'm thinking of replacing the Tetris pieces for the ones here.
Of course, Yoshi Dude likes the NES look of this!

Hey, guys, you can unblock my old brick-of-blue layout, 'cause I scratched it and made a new one.

So, how much of an improvement is it from my last one? I'm open for suggestions.

Yay, at last I found some code that I could understand and edit. And now I have a layout. Looks fine for me.

I'm posting here not so much to ask if people think my layout is good, b/c it's hardly a layout at all. I just want to make sure no one has an extreme problem with it. The one thing I can think of is the fact that it is white and the board schemes are predominantly dark. That might annoy some people, and I could invert the colors I suppose. Obviously it's supposed to look like an .asm file used by a romhacker to patch an SNES game or NES game. I recently got off my lazy ass and added the CSS I needed to change my link, alink, vlink, and hlink colors to override the board scheme.

Question though, I've seen some users say it is better to have externally hosted CSS. But I've heard some browsers, lololol in particular, will delay loading the rest of the page if it can't find this CSS file, which annoys the hell out of me. I've definitely had some people's layouts slow down my fun posting experience. So I went with internal CSS just to avoid that problem, but are there any drawbacks?

edit: bah this looks bad but I didn't break the tables. I just posted in another thread with no problem.

The only thing I guess I'd like to see changed with your layout is a smidge more padding around the edges.

Otherwise it's good. Simple.

You fixed it in your layout, but you didn't fix it here in your posts, meaning the tables were still broken for those of us who don't use the stupid auto-updating post layout thing.

So, is this bubble-version of my layout better or worse than the psychic-version? (turn auto-update off and look at it here.)

A lot of the contrast is gone, and it's a bit darker. But the bubbles look a bit weird too. Eh.

I like the layout altogether, but you should stretch it all the way to the bottom like mine, to fill the whole space. That's just my opinion.

Edit: It stretches all the way in your profile but for me, it doesn't in the thread. Weird.

I just added another line break to both the top and bottom, so the background should fill all of the space. At least, it does on lololol / 1024x768.

Sometimes the table does weird crap like stretch all the way to the edges, even though it's set at 85% width or whatever its set on. Happens only about 1/50th of the time though, and it fixes itself on a soft refresh. Meh.

I was thinking about adding a sidebar that lists the top five or so on the quick quiz. I haven't actually bothered to create it, but I have the general idea in my head. The two problems I can see with it though, are

A. It might be distracting when trying to read a post.
B. It might be too bulky.

Good idea? Bad idea?

Don't add the sidebar. If people really wanted to know who the top 5 are in the Quick Quiz, then they should check the thread itself. Also, it would be annoying for you Tatrion to update your layout almost everyday because of the top 5 scores.

I agree with fabio, and I think the bubbles are much better. Plus it works well with your avatar.

Here's my first attempt at a layout. I tested it in IE and lololol and it seems to be working. Does this work for everyone? I want to make sure before I go breaking threads all over the place. =P

EDIT: Removed the old SLOW layout.

Not a big fan of the JPEGs though.

Agree with above. JPG compression is horrible. Choose a different format (ie, PNG) or recompress JPG to resolve image quality issue.

Loads slowly too, very slowly.

Alright, redid the images in BMP format. Better? =P

EDIT: Hmm, they are 310k altogether. I'll try changing them to PNG tomorrow.

No, that is worse. Much worse.

BMP files are huge. The quality of the image is improved; but until you add your PNG files, I recommend not using your layout in posts yet, so that you don't lag others' in the meantime.

Alright, converted it to PNGs. It's 36k for all the images now. I edited the other layouts out so this page isn't slowed down by their suckiness.
