I'm looking for something as good as winamp. Something that can can bring in entire directories and subdirectories of music at a time, where I can put them into playlists, and have a small, out of the way skin on top. I'm running KDE on SuSE, by the way.

I don't really care for Winamp-clones (I prefer to do everything media-related via CLI), but you'd probably like Audacious

Thanks guys.
Now, if you don't mind helping me again, I'm looking for a DVD-player, without the need to further download codecs on top. (Err... the thing is, I've got to log on to windows to go online and download, then use linux to take the information from my windows partition over...) |

It's hard to believe you can't already do that with MPlayer, though perhaps getting VLC and(/or) libdvdcss will do it.

If you're running KDE, I would recommend Amarok... actually even if you were running Gnome I would recommend it, it's my favorite media player for linux. As far as DVD goes, I'm pretty sure I had totem-xine playing dvd's flawlessly...

Originally posted by Black Lord + I concur. AmaroK is awesome. I use a combination of three programs for media. AmaroK for my vast MP3 collection, XMMS for quickly testing out music, and XINE-UI for playing video. |

Originally posted by FreeDOS + Ah, I suppose so. However, I don't really see the need to upgrade. The current version works fine for my tastes. (edited by Gavin on 09-19-06 11:22 PM) |
