Judging from the screenshots, no HDMA. It'll be easy to RLM it and comment on the level design later.

Anikiti still has the annoying tendency to write the BG palettes to palette 1, the status bar palette. You'd think he'd learned after five (?) hacks, huh?

About the screenshots themselves... nothing we haven't seen before, nothing bad, but nothing too eye-catching, either.

The nipper plants: Goombas, obviously. I seriously doubt he's not using Sprite Tool, but I'll have to actually play it to be sure.

The level design looks pretty hard, standard fare for Anikiti.

I'll play it tomorrow, when I have less schoolwork on the go.

It's quotes like this that make me giggle. Anitiki used nipper plants and Goombas (not just graphically altered Koopas) long before Sprite Tool was released. Although one of the quotes on SMW Central on the hack about using "real custom sprites" is even worse.

The one thing I don't like about Anitiki's hacks are that they are more or less more of the same each time. There are variations of course, and with the number of hacks he's made, there are bound to be recurring world themes and other minor things. But things like Bramble levels and (especially) bridges that suddenly break below you are very common within his hacks. Still, the hacks are of high quality, so it is possible to look the other way.

"Kamanofutada ichi kôsu 2", the second level in world 2, starts out to be pretty challenging; aside that the difficulty until here was balanced well, and I'm no professional gamer.

There were not too many 1-Ups, but with regular and Dragon Coins, along with the bonus game you can get enough lives to beat the levels, until you reach the castles or ghost houses to save your game.

The first world was okay, although I have to admit it was not too impressive; that old destroy-bricks-with-shell-in-the-cave level seems to be overused by him. But overall it seems to be a fun hack. Depends on the quality of riddles in the ghost houses and such too; these are very important elements to me in a SMW hack.

Overall, until I can judge better (more levels played), pretty decent until now, in general.

He's definitely not using Spritetool, but he has made use of Tweaker and remapped a lot of graphics. His Hammer Bros. are a pre-Spritetool version, and he uses tricks like invisible lines for Fuzzy to make Roto-Discs and changing Thwomps into horizontal moving castle bricks to make Horizontal Thwomps. (I wasn't pleased that he made Spinies into unstompable Red Goombas in the second level. That's just deceitful)

Personally, I find this game to be overly difficult and am frustrated enough with it that I have no real desire to continue after clearing the first two worlds. I may just be a terrible Mario player, but I needed to abuse the hell out of savestates to even make it that far. (What you're required to do to get the secret exit in the Buzzy Beetle cave in the first world is just insane)

There's a palette error on the Cheep Cheeps that really bugged me, as much as they're used. Its belly is supposed to have grey shading around the bottom, but he left that entry in his palette black, so it's got this ugly thick black area around the bottom and on its tail. I will say that I was happy to see turn animations included for the SMB3 koopas. The black outlines for the Shelless Koopas were also a nice touch, but I'd like to see someone just paste SMB3 koopa heads onto Shelless Koopas some time.

The SMWcentral hack is uploaded by me.

Now his hack has shown less layer 3 problems. (Castle layer 3 background often have a weird pallete, now he had modified it to look like original SMW, but not modified on castle 6. you can see blue castle tiles in the background)

To tell you why his hack often has a bad Layer 3 problem, he based every hack(since 2004, after LUIGIADVENTURE2)on MarioXWorld DX, which the problem starts), pallete fits well in every hack because he is using the old ExGFX, seldom using new ones. And, when you unlock this hack with RLM, the level after (maybe 1EX), or 1F0, will show up as lots of crap.(I've found an interesting bug, when you unlock locked hacks with lots of exgfx(more than 100), levels begin to become craps.)

Levels where New GFX were shown: level 13X

Impressive graphics and imaginative level design, but not fun at all.

Typical Anikiti.

Also, there are many habits he needs to drop:

1. Vertical Scrolling - It should only scroll up if the player lands on a platform.
2. Player Tilemap - Always looking in the same drirection, and his feet are in the ground.
3. Sprite Palettes - Just look at the Koopa Troopa...
4. Bush outlines - First level, first screen, WTF?
5. Fadefix - C'mon, it's been around for a while.
6. Difficulty - Seriously, I'm tired of 7E001902.
7. Fun - The levels get far less fun as the game goes on.

He should really make use of some of the resources that are now available, like Sprite Tool, and Bio's ExAnimated Overworld.

I've played 3 levels of this, and that's enough, thanks.

Yeah, it's just more of the same, but at least he's beginning to balance it off a bit more. The first world gave me absolutely no problems at all, in this one.
