I´m gonna buy 4 GC controllers and 4 wii controllers when I´ve the money for it. But DAMN, are the wii remotes expensive or what?

And I think I´ll reserve a Wii.

It isn't? That's eighty bucks total for each one combined!

Also, I seriously gotta ask, does the English price you mentioned reflect on the added tax? I hope so....

I don't think nunchuck + wiimote + classic controller makes one device. Sorry.

Gamecube controllers seemed rather expensive to me, too... 35 per for the Wavebirds and 25 for the regular.

And... I've definitely got a couple of working Cube controllers, so I'm set for that.

Ocrap $249?

Seems I'll have to wait longer than Christmas for one; sales tax begins Nov. 15th in Puerto Rico

$249 + 7% tax = $266.43. Definitely out of my parents' budget D:

All three aren't one device and you get the remote/nunchuck when you buy a GC.

So if you're NOT going to play multiplayer but want the classic controller to complete the trio, that's only $20. Not too shabby at all.

So, I've got $500 to blow on it.

I for one will be camping out at the Wal-Mart for a few days with my tent, a generator, a TV, a shit can (with a lid) and necessary toiletries.

I'm doing this because giving enough plasma to buy a PS3 is pretty much like fucking a chick with herpes and getting stuck with the medication and its costs just to keep from breaking out.

How about you?

So I reserved the Gamecube version of Twilight Princess ages ago before I knew anything about the Wii. Probably before it got its final name, actually. And the friendly local game store just left a message on my machine informing me that I can change my preorder to the Wii version. My ogre and I were interested in the console anyway - we like our Gamecube and Nintendo's exclusive franchises, so the Wii will certainly be enjoyable as well - so we're going to go for it. We don't really have the time or inclination to camp out, but I'm sure it won't be too long before we get our console.

And.......Wii! Gonads and strife...gonads and strife...gonads and strife...

$40 for a controller is high but not the $20 one. But I have like 5 gamecube controllers so I don't need a classic one. I need a numchuck, but its a high price, how can you say its not high. No other controller on the market is that high, as far as I know.

XBox 360 wireless controllers are $50, and wired controllers are $40.

I don't see a point in getting this system. Sure, it'll be nice to play the old games again...oh wait! - I already do! As do most people that I run into. Sorry, not going to pay up to $10 when I can get the games for free or if I already have the orginal system.(s). Not intrested, sorry. Now, if they do remake of NiGHTS, then I might get the system.

But of course there's a chance that I'll get it for free anyway, and if that's the case, sweet.

Sucks for me that two days before the Ps3 comes out. Yea, I want my raise thank you.

Oh, and I find it funny that the Wii version of LOZ: Twilight Princess comes out before the GC version.

IGN Reports

UK, September 15, 2006 - Wii games will not be region-free according to Nintendo UK's General Manager David Yarnton. Speaking exclusively with IGN at Nintendo's European Wii press event in London, Yarnton confirmed that Wii games and online content will be region-encoded, meaning European gamers won't be able to play titles from the US and Japan and vice-versa.

The news follows contradictory comments made by Perrin Kaplan, Nintendo of America's Vice President of Marketing and Affairs, which IGN reported on yesterday.

What is it now? Region Free or not?

If european Games are Region Coded, and others not. FUCK YOU! Nintendo of Europe, FUCK YOU! Grossostheim.

You fucked us N-Fans up since... ever!

So what... it costs $250, the controllers are expensive, you have to buy the browser, and now pointless region coding?

This is getting to be more and more of a letdown.

Well, the Opera Browser is not free. Infact it wasn't free as in beer until recently, probably to make it more popular.

Anya: Some of us like to get a legal copy, though I hope the DRM won't be too nazi at the same time. Besides the classic games aren't it's main selling point.

250 USD is not expensive for a console. Wasn't Gamecube that expensive when it launched? Could be said that the Gamecube was something around 300 USD here when first released I think, and not with any games as far I remember.

Watch Europe be the only ones with region-coding for some insane reason. Would be nice to get confirmation from either the #1 or #2 branch of Nintendo instead of the #3...

Anya, trust me - you do not want OR need a PS3 at launch.

I never said I was getting a Ps3 at launch...honestly, getting any system at launch is a bad idea; there's always a problem with it, somehow, someway.

And about the retro games, not just the copies of the old games, but actually playing them on their orginal console, can't get better than that, I'm sorry.

GC, Wii, whatever. Some people just view the Wii as GC 2.0.

Anya - You're still playing them on a TV now with a good (hopefully) controller. It's about as close as you can get without rolling the dice and purchasing a second-hand system.

(Now, imagine if Nights came out for the Wii and you didn't have a Saturn... XD)

$250 is cheap, so that isn't a letdown. Controllers are cheap, especially considering each one is its own GPS system more or less. Buying a browser really doesnt matter. Surfing on a computer is much better anyway. Region coding is still up in there since there are so many different answers. I don't see the big deal with it anyway.

I don't see how anything is a letdown so far.
