Run man. Run far away! You can tell how they treat their employees by how they treat people getting interviews.

On an other note: I posted this topic on Gaia and, right away, someone posts "WALL OF TEXT". Are people there so fucking illiterate and screwed up with ADHD that they need their text in small bite sized portions? God I hate that place now.

"WALL OF TEXT" is a retarded GameFAQs fad. I'm pretty sure it's common knowledge that people at Gaia were fucking stupid though. Don't listen to those retards.

My Mom avoids shopping at Wal-Mart when she can. This one time, some horridly fat, southern-accented, middle aged soccer mom hag told me I couldn't buy Half-Life 2 because it was M-Rated and my siblings looked too young to be playing it. Despite the fact that my mother was right there, she tried to police me and my siblings and told us we couldn't buy it. My Mom goes "Well, I think that's stupid" and she's like "I don't think that's stupid" and Mom's like "Who cares what you think, you're in your forties and you're a cashier at Wal-Mart". It was GLORIOUS.

"WHO'S NUMBER ONE?" "CUSTOMER ALWAYS!" XD!

I should throw that in their faces if that sort of thing ever happens to me.

Two references? For WAL-MART?!?

Geez... I can see two references being teachers/charity workers/etc., but if they actually wanted two job references... that's sad and would kill the hope of so many high school dropouts.

In all seriousness, you couldn't get even two references? It's not that hard to put down random friends names.

When most of your friends are around and under 18, they don't really count as being credible references.

You can come up with two right? How about your parents/parents friends you saw around. Unless you are antisocial, then you are bricked. Just don't work in fast food.

I avoid my parents friends and they don't like relatives.

I guess you could try to get a job at a place like Sears, they suck so much they accept anyone.

Well, I find it easier to read a bit of text if it's divided into portions. It wasn't as bad with your post but it's really annoying when people make long posts or post some article where the whole thing is just a blob of text.

Besides I think spacing off is infact more important than grammar and spelling for readability...

Anyway, uhm... why join the worst company I ever heard of? I been thinking of working some extra at the grocery stores where I study and they don't threat their workers bad.

Then unions are mandatory, and we have harsh minium wage laws.

I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you. I worked there for a week, and promptly quit. It's one of the worst places in the world TO work. Slave labor. They put someone like me who is like...not strong at all in the STOCK room, and then I complained about that and then they just kind of left me on the sales floor with no supervisor or guidance or anything and gave me weird hours, so I said fuck that.

They can spare to lose employees, honestly. I know someone who works for them, but he actually moved up in the company and started to work in their warehouse and would drive the trucks every now and then. So I guess it all comes down to which one your working at.

The Wal-Mart by my dad's (West Coast of Fla) mostly has Mexicans and old people as its customers.

The Wal-Marts down here (South Fla) mostly have black and old people as its customers.

I mean, I don't want to seem mean here, but its true. I've been to the stores and thats the majority. I find it a bit funny and odd.

Also, why is it that Wal-mart is busy at 3am than at 5pm? Go figure, its Wal-Mart. They edit their music CDs to make them free of the naughty words and sex realated themes.

You know, I can't imagine why most women work there. Their crappy insurance doesn't even cover maternity. Seriously, it's like they steal money out of your pocket and call that insurance, a lot like CVS actually. My CVS insurance didn't even pay for me to go to the doctor once, which I think was ridiculous.

At any rate, when they give you the booklet on insurance, it's basically a list of all these things that they WON'T cover.

References != parents or relatives. Those don't count 99.99% of the time. :\

Funny how an entry-level place would want those... we're all doomed if McD's starts asking for references.

Colin, my buddy applied to Walmart. He theorizes that they scan the references and do a brief background check. He thinks it is their form of pre-emptive union busting.

That might be true... but I'm still sure that putting both your parents down as references would be a no-go.

And why would you be looking to see if 16 and 17-year olds have union ties?

I applied at Wal-Mart before, as stated by others.... nothing happend.

But thats a good thing! I had a interview at Best Buy yesturday and they liked me so I have a second interview on Wednesday. In a few months he said he would want to give me a try in Geek Squad, which would be like a promotion.

Anyone can have ties to a union. At least that is the Walmart mentality.
