That may depend a lot on Chad Pennington. Since Pennington has had to major arm problems, I'm not expecting much. The only healthy version you can find is in video games.

Well, Pittsburgh beat Miami, thanks to a missed challenge flag. (God Bless inattentive referees! )

The rest of us (Except for Minny, Washington, SD, and Oak-Land) get under way tomorrow.

I wouldn't say it was just because of a missed challenge flag - The Steelers usually don't have much trouble pounding it in from the 1 yard line. Not to say it's impossible, we all remember Bettis fumbling against the Colts, but odds are they'd have made the TD.

However, I do think that wasn't a prime display by the 'Fins, and that they'll improve their play over the course of the season (as they did last year) and finish with a playoff berth.

I am the only person I know who picked the Browns to beat New Orleans tommorow...

Pittsburgh would have drove it in. I'm more upset that a TE was able to get past the secondary. If the dolphins lose at home to the Bills there could be trouble for the Phins even though Buffalo almost upset New England.

I picked the Browns too. Ouch. At least it wasn't a survival game pick.

Re: offensive pass interference on Tim Carter

Man, that's bull-shit. Harper slipped on his own. Get the call right, and the Giants don't throw that turnover and they're still in the game. Although I've gotta give Indy credit for killing the clock dead, but... New York receivers, GET THE EFF OUT OF BOUNDS IN THE TWO-MINUTE DRILL. You were the best scoring offense in that situation last year, so you KNOW BETTER.

yes, god forbid the referees don't watch the players.

I actually missed the "manning bowl" but didn't see the big buzz about it anyways; it seemed like too much was going into it, it's just another game, anyways, football is back .

also, you picked the browns? D: !!!

Of course he picked the Browns. And it was a lot closer than most people expected. Maybe if our receivers hadn't dropped like 4 passes in a row on that final drive, we could have mounted a comeback.

Oh well, there's always next week.

That was a terrible recieving game. Some of those passes were freebies. The last interception should have never happened.

The Broncos had a terrible game against the Rams.

I picked the Brownies too. I couldn't watch the whole game because my ears started bleeding after the 300th time they mentioned Reggie Bush. Cleveland plays Cinci next Sunday; judging by the last few times these teams faced it should be an entertaining game. We have Kellen Winslow, right? Maybe Frye will get more rushing yards than Droughns again.

One of my survival picks this week is Cincinnati over Cleveland so the Bengals better not become the Bungles this week.

I'm still trying to figure out wether I horribly overrated the Redskins or horribly underrated the Vikings. I think it's a little of both. Looking at the Vikes, I don't think they have much talent at the outside, but their o-line completely dominated Washington. Consistent pressure on Johnson was impossible.

Also, Phillip Rivers looks pretty legit, although I'd like to see him play a strong defense lest I end up eating my words.

Thinking about it now, the Vikings have a much better shot at the playoffs than the Redskins, just by virtue of which division the teams play in. I think we'll have a better snapshot of the league after week 4. These first couple of games usally teams are not themselves, plus injuries come into play as the season progresses.

Dear Ziff:

I have no clue what you knew that I didn't, but congrats.

For those who haven't heard, the Bills almost beat the Pats last year (lost on a saftey, of all things) and did beat the Fins this week.

My list needs some MAJOR updating.

My list will likely need updating as well. Denver has no offense. I don't see them getting to the super bowl like Baltimore did.

I won't write Miami off yet. I read some statistic that the last 5 years, the majority of playoff teams(around 60%) started the season 1-1 or 0-2. But what the hell is up with the Dolphins O-line. It's like they can't pass and run block in the same week. Only one or the other. Sheesh.

Figured my list needed some correcting:

AFC:

East: New England Patriots
Wildcard: Miami Dolphins

No team from from this division really looks great, but I think the 'fins will have trouble digging themselves out of their hole with such a hard schedule.

North: Baltimore Ravens

Divison is too tough for a wildcard to come out of here, IMO. Ravens have shown that they're for real.

South: Indianapolis Colts
Wildcard: Jacksonville Jaguars

Jags are a great team, highly underrated even after making the playoffs last year. I think they repeat their wild card performance and maybe move into the 2nd round of the playoffs this year.

West: San Diego Chargers

I don't know what 'it' is, but whatever 'it' is, Phillip Rivers has 'it'.

NFC:

East: New York Giants
Wildcard: Philadelphia Eagles

Both Redskins and Cowboys are looking terribly disorganized. It's still anyone's division really. Mark Brunell really needs to figure out the playbook if he wants to earn another playoff year.

North: Chicago Bears
Wildcard: Minnesota Vikings

Brad Johnson is great when he has time, and that's exactly what this o-line is giving him. A better back than Chester Taylor could have an MVP kind of year running behind these guys.

South: Atlanta Falcons

The Heavens have parted and miraculously bestowed upon Micheal Vick the ability to read a defense. The Bucs and the Panthers are completely disorganized, and as good of a pick as DeAngelo Williams is, he completely lost Carolina that game with that lateral bullshit. Add the improved Falcon's defense to the mix and this one is Atlanta's to lose.

West: Seattle Seahawks

No big surprise here. I wouldn't expect them to be the #1 seed again, as their division is getting better and might scare or potentially upset the Seahawks once or twice, but I don't think there's enough challenge on the schedule to keep them from the playoffs.

I want to see the Ravens beat someone important before I completely jump on their bandwagon, but I'm thankful I have their defense in two of my fantasy leagues.

Same with the Chargers.

The Bears may end up number one seed as long as they split with the Vikings.

I've got the Phins as my survival pick this week. Other than the Texans this is the easiest game on the schedule and its at home. Phins lose this week, I don't see a recovery and there will probably be a top ten draft pick. Man, why didn't they upgrade the O-line.

Any given Sunday.

I can't believe the Saints won that game. Vick looked like crap and New Orleans got every break imaginable, it seems. I'm thinking that was a one-time thing, though.

Also, I think I heard that Leinart will now be playing thanks to Warner's 8 fumbles and numerous interceptions. Interesting, but I doubt it will get them in the playoffs.

No clue exactly how good the Saints are, but there's no doubt that the crowd definately helped them that game. Still, it was a great gameplan by the coaches.

Also, I'm sorta worried that starting Leinart will interrupt his education, and possibly reinforce some bad habits. I guess we'll see come next week, though.

Just came out that Terrell Owens attempted to commit suicide via painkillers... is this just another of his antics or is he truly breaking down and going off the deep end? Remains to be seen but when I get home I'd like to hear what some of the ESPN pundits have to say about this turn of events...
