We have a thread on facial hair, I'm wondering about hair elsewhere though.
Generally I'm more interested in hair removal... like good ways to remove hair. Shaving... sort of works... but I'm curious as to other forms of hair removal. I tried a little device that pulls the hair out by the root. I tried it out on my legs. It does the trick, but some of my hair seems a bit fine, and it doesn't get rid of all the hair. It also leaves my legs all red and lumpy for a few hours, but I imagine anything that pulls the hair out might do this... Need to look at a bikini waxing solution too now it's coming up to Summer Fun.. don't wanna think about it. But I don't think that should be too bad as it's only a small area.... a full brazillian wax sounds more painful, and even though I'm not a guy, but I always cringe at the thought of the ole "Back, crack and sack" wax So how do you girls (and guys) remove body hair? |

Well I don't worry so much about hair. I only shave my armpits and legs, and pluck mah eyebrows occationally. I actually have very fine, short gold hairs on my stomach and back which I think are better left where they are than get shaved and grow back ten times as thick and have to keep doing it. Hair -elsewhere- I daren't shave in case I cut myself. Plus I prefer the cover it gives me, I feel naked and bald without >/.
I do my underarms and legs though with hair removal cream because I hate razors. Yes, it does leave them bumpy, but that fades. |

Plus, if you shave yourself in the area "down there", itīll itch like hell afterwards. I did that once and I donīt know if Iīll do it again.

I shave my privates and the most itch/pain/bump-free way I've found is to actually use conditioner (like for your hair) instead of shaving cream. It leaves the area soft and the hair grows back a lot smoother. Less itching and irritation.
But you can't do it like every 3 days. You gotta wait like a week for the hair to actually start accumulating again before you shave or you'll end up with lots of bumps, redness, and itching for a couple of days. Other than that, I don't shave/cut/remove my body hair. I don't know about waxing. Never done it, and really don't care too, either |

The best thing to use to remove body hair is carpet tape.
I haven't got ANY chest or back hair yet, besides the odd titch hair that sprouts every now and again. As for the small amount of hair I do have around my privates (Actually I have quite a lot down there), I do not shave it. |

I just use a razor and shaving cream, I'm not daring enough to try the wax products or anything like that. And even though I use shaving cream (and lots of it), I usually get a little bit of razor burn for the rest of the day, because my skin is retardedly sensitive.
Otherwise, I'm not all that concerned about it. |

Vyper's post actually reminds me the other thing about shaving -- not the itching (but that's what reminded me) but the fact that sometimes I can get ingrown hairs if I shave. Which can either itch, or hurt depending.
Anybody who pulls hair out (ie, waxing, etc) able to tell me if this happens at all with that? |

Ingrown hairs are the worst. I get a combination of those and razor burn when I shave my chest and stomach. I've never shaved up front, I trimmed it once and thought it looked stupid. I sometimes shave my ass and between the legs though. That's usually bad because my butt will itch and get bumps and between the legs rubs together if I sweat.
Right now I haven't shaved anything but my head and cheeks since the beginning of August. I'd like to try waxing my back and chest, but I'm sure it will hurt like a motherfucker. A friend naired his chest once and it got all red and irritated for days. My skin is VERY sensitive so I'm not even gonna try that. |

Well I've viewed it as pointless for shaving it off as a guy. The discomfort it can lead to, it growing back and having to shave it. But more importantly, only being in the ownership of one razor. The last thing I want is a shaver that was down there touching my face...

Disposables, man. They're cheap.

That's what I do as well. Buying replacement razor heads isn't too expensive, and they generally work much better. They're friendly.

Yes, I can concur on the friendliness. For a razor at least.
I've never once cut myself on a proper razor, but I have on disposables, more than once. |

Yeah but I get Gillete disposables. They're awesome
I will eventually invest in a permanent razor (with interchangable blades, of course). |

Am I the only one in the "scissors" department?
It isn't as close, but it's efficient and functional I think. I don't have a hairy back, so maybe that's why I can get away with this. |

I use one of those new-fangled vibrating five-bladed razors. It's great. A lot less irritation. I shave my head at least once a day and it hasn't let me down yet.
I disagree about replacement heads being inexpensive. They really do cost a lot more than they should, no matter what brand you use. But dull razors are no fun and disposables suck. Though, I don't really see what the big deal about shaving your pubes and then later shaving your face would be... I mean, you wash the razor while you're using it anyway... and... well, I don't know about you but I WASH regularly in the shower, so um... *edit* Wite, I trim my beard with scissors. Precise and easy. They'd take way too long to really do anything else with, though. (edited by Kasdarack on 09-08-06 05:53 PM) |

You will never catch me shaving anything I dont absolutely have to. I can barely be bothered shaving my face, let alone my legs or pubes! A man is meant to be a little rough, wild, and untamed. Not some prissy thing obsessed about having a smooth chest or pubic area. That's my 2 cents anyway...

Hmm... I don't really go for guys that do shave their body as any kind of preference, but I'm not into a whole lot of body hair either.
The only guys I've ever known who have shaved their body hair have been athletes or body builders, removing hair either for the purpose of reducing drag or for the purpose of improving the look of their muscles. Other than that, I've not known anyone who's really gone to the effort of shaving. Mum once ran the hair-puller-outerer on Dad's back though. Dad did not like it. As for the price of replacement razors, I agree, they are quite expensive. They're one of those items you have to buy, but you complain about the price when you do. |
