Bah.

Age isn't what bothers me. It's what waits beyond age.

Of course, whether it gets blown up entirely or just has a few "hiccups" depends entirely on how well [Administrator] backs up.

Xkeeper seems to keep good backups But things may change and future board Administrators may not be so conscientious.

As for the other thing about it possibly still being around... it's possible. It might not be anything like it is now though. The only thing I can see at this stage stopping forums in general from existing is something more user friendly or such superceding the technology... which if I think about it, is kinda likely..

Nah, I bet it'll be up to it's 12th or 13th incarnation by then, run by people who haven't even been born yet

I'll be 32 by then. So strange to imagine what the internet will be like by that time...

Smack the Monkey will be a 3D hologram you have to physically hit, and it will be 300x more annoying than it is now.

It will be joined by a 3D hologram "fart button", and lots of flashing advertising that sends you into a seizure.

Will I still be hacking SMW? Will I even still use the board?

Will I have finished my Pokémon Silver hack?

BTW, it's not like I expect the board to be destroyed and never come back (what'd they do, blow up the server and kill Xk and Acmlm in the process?), it's just the idea of a website actually living that long is a bit far out. The board has been completely wiped before and is (obviously) still here, so I don't think that's anything to worry about; it's more a question of whether anyone will still care enough to keep paying for the server.

Heh, I'm 28 already. In November of 2023 I'll be 46.

For those of you still under the age of 18, time only seems to pass faster as you get older. Wish I could figure out why that is.

Indeed. I remember when I was maybe 6 or 7 years old, 5 minutes felt like ages. Seriously, I could do all sorts of things that'd probably take me half an hour to do now. (Maybe my clock was just slow... )

I'll be 34 that year. I'll still come here (if it exists).
Otherwise I will make my own hacking board, complete with an *Old Farts* forum the truly dedicated Veterans of ROM Hacking ... the OldSkool.

Somebody once told me that time seems faster as you get older because... well, when you're younger, 1 year is a longer period relative to the rest of your life... (when you're five, a year is "forever") and as you get older, that changes and you perceive that time moves faster...

Which I suppose makes sense.

That kind of goes along the same line as time flies when you are having fun. It would probably be more accurate to say time flies when you are occupied. If we did nothing but wait in lines all day, then I would guess that time would seem to pass pretty slow. Also, I would presume that kids perceive time slower because they have less to do in general. Most of them don't have jobs or errands or bills to worry about.

Okay, I don't think I said it very well, but when you're five years old, 1 year is a fifth of your entire life! No wonder it seems like a really long time...

Now, I'm 26, and 1 year isn't such a big slice of my life anymore...

I hopefully have a family by then. Then I could imagine a awesome bachelor life at 37... hmmm.

The community may or may not be alive in one form or another (It can be be around with a diffrent name than Acmlm board). We never know, it's simple too far in the future.

Tarale, I also think it depends on what you're doing is a factor too. If you're doing more memorable things each day and stuff, which you usually do when younger you remember more about you did and time dosen't seem to travel as fast.

I kinda realized that when my life kinda became more monoteous. o.o

37 years old.

I hope to dear God that I have a career and a family at that age.

Seriously, if, at that age, I am doing the same things that I do now, I give anybody permission to come over and punch me in the face.

Thats crazy. I'm 33 in that year. I'll feel, good. Maybe by then we will have 128-bit architecture for our processors, and a Nintendo Revolution. No midlife crisis I hope. But, that's 20 years from now. I still got time to go bungie jumping.

I'll be 32 by then, so I won't be an old geezer

By then, we'll have left SMW and SM64 snd moved on to hacking Super Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime, and Super Smash Bros. Melee.

And we'll have machines with 64GB RAM, 100TB hard drives, and 168.8 gHz Pentium XII four-core processors.

I love the future
