Back to the original topic, so you want there to be the human equivalent of dog-food?

Aren't snacks that come in bags pretty much the equivalent of dog food? Or if you're talking about canned dog food we have beef stew

Are you picking on stew? Stew is good -- in winter. I make an awesome Beef and Guinness Stew. It's all warming and yummy on days where it's cold and rainy and ugh.

As for snacks in bags... well, some of those certainly don't resemble actual natural food....

No way! Stew kicks ass! I was just noting it's similarity to expensive canned dog food.

Except I'd eat a stew.

I wouldn't eat dog food, expensive or not

I think that would depend on how hungry you were at the time. I'd eat it. Cat food would make you really sick, but canned dog food would probably be just fine.

I've eaten a milk bone before. They're gross but if I were starving...

Milkbones are not bad. The same goes for those rawhide bones. They're similar to pork rinds except very very chewy.

They don't taste like anything, just like 99.99% of the rest of the food on the market. Sweet, salty, sour and bitter. There really aren't many options available for the food that does have flavor anyway.

Note to self: If starving in the desert, you can eat Milk Bones.

Now I just have to get stranded in the desert with a box of Milk Bones.
