| I don't play online games. Period.
I had a bad Everquest addiction back in the day. It affected school and life. Never again. And I realized that all those games (EQ, WoW, etc.) are nothing more than mindless roving and getting items for your character only so you can keep up with those around you. Most people I know don't TRULY have fun playing. They just play. Which is retarded. They probably think they're enjoying it to some extent. Brainwashing, I tell you. |

...but this thread is interesting, so it can stay. I'm not into online gaming. I like games that I can pick up and put down at will. If I get sucked into one for hours, it's OK, but I don't want to be forced to play a game for long periods of time in order to get anywhere, and with certain exceptions (like playing a fun multiplayer game with friends), I prefer to play alone. My ogre plays FFXI. A bunch of our friends who live far away are on that, and I understand the appeal of being able to talk to all of them at the same time while playing something enjoyable, but they have to schedule times to meet and then commit to sitting in front of the computer for at least a couple of hours at a time. When playing in a group, it's only fair for the group to help each player get their level 86 hernia belt or whatever random thingymajig they need at the time, and again, I understand that...but it can take FOREVER. Plus, when he parties with random people, he invariably gets stuck with idiots, and there's nothing like wasting an hour of gameplay because some Leeroy Jenkins got you all killed. I know there are other games with better single-player campaigns, but none of them really stand out as something I want to try. I'm just not interested in major gaming commitments any more. |

| I know I'd be able to get into WoW because I always had great fun with it during the open betas leading up to release. If nothing else, it would be a good time waster.
I like playing online but I really don't have any favorite games... simple stuff that you can just play for a bit then walk away from is good, especially if you're someone that plays a lot of games at once like myself. |
