It is much easier to create a layout with a background that can be repeated, like a pattern. An example would be a starry background or something of that nature, it can be repeated over and over to fill the space, and doesn't require the post to be a certain size. The background image you chose shouldn't be used without a lot of work because if it repeats in the post, it would look stupid. A simple background of one solid color would also work nicely.

So it's not possible to have my post just show that picture with Link?

I want a layout similar to Arthus'.......but with my picture of course!

What you want takes knowledge of either html or css, neither of which you seem to have. It is quite possible but takes actual work and thought, which is why I suggested something simpler at this point.

Alright, I have a question then.

What file type should the image in my layout be? (jpeg, png, etc...)

What I've been using is Png....

For screenshots of games, applications, etc. PNG is preferable, for real-life photos use JPG.

I don't see any image. Where is your image hosted?

Try somewhere like photobucket, which is free and allows you to "hotlink" the picture for use on forums and such.

Course, I don't see any evidence when I try to edit your post of there being an image at all, either

First off, redesigned layout again.

Second, to icepenguin, a link to a layout you can mess around with.

This one is what I'm working on using. One big known thing wrong with it is in smaller resolutions, the actual kingdom doesn't appear in the post because it is too far to the right, my resolution is usually huge, so I'm going to fix that first. Otherwise, opera users, I'm not sure how it looks there, but on IE and FF I've seen no problems. Any suggestions, comments?

EDIT: Quotebox
Edit again: I believe the resolution deal is fixed... simple enough, just had to align the bg to the top of the post. I could be wrong, though, please correct me if I am.

Can't see your background because it's blocked by the work filter; but I'm curious to know why there's such a big space in your quote...

I looked and its just because I pushed enter twice after putting the "[ quote]" tag in.

Known bug that I fixed soon after posting. It was just an accidental extra closing tag. Auto-updating is nice, you should try it.

It looks cool in my opinion.

Only thing I see wrong is the quote box is quite hard to read because of the colors.

Rather than expect people to switch to auto updating (a lot of us like to see older layouts), you should just fix your broken posts, to avoid crap like this.

And yeah, you need to lighten the blockquote background color, but otherwise it looks nice. I think surrounding the whole textbox with thick dots is distracting, but that's just me.
Are your links white everywhere?

Sigh. Ok, whatever, I checked out and fixed a few old posts. I'll make it better eventually, but its going to take more work on the tables and, at this time, I feel lazy. The dots are just dots... they're not distracting to me, as they are not animated or anything.

Okay, now that I'm not at work and it's loading better, I agree that the blockquote colour is too dark to use black text with.

Try white text, or lighten the colour. I've never been fond of particularly saturated blues (or any colour) either and text, it's always a little harsh on the eyes.

Post layout I've been working on for a few days. Already showed it at another acmlmboard-based forum, and was well-received.

Stylesheet makes gratituous use of the 'opacity:' property, giving a transparent background without having to specifically make a background image.

May run a bit slow on older machines, however.

Looks fine to me. Very readable. Maybe just a touch big (height) but otherwise I like it a lot

Old layout needed too much work to be perfect. I think this one is definitely an upgrade in terms of stretchability.
