Autobots:
Optimus Prime
Bumblebee
Jazz
Ratchet
Ironhide

Decepticons:
Megatron
Starscream
Brawl
Bonecrusher
Barricade
Scorponok
Frenzy
Blackout

Looks like Soundwave did not make the cut although the reason for that I believe is because Hasbro wanted him to transform into something similar to his Generation 1 incarnation and not a helicopter.

I'm a hardcore Transformers Fanboy. It would be unwise to get me started on this topic...

No, he's bad.

But take a look at Megatron's design (obviously a bit of a spoiler). What the fuck?

Starscreams design is really weird too. He has guns for his hands.

It's going to be rough for long time TF fans to get used to these designs. We have to accept the fact that not much can beat the original design and that those old designs are staying in the past.

There are plenty of ways that new designs could kick ass. I always love lots of toys from the newer lines, and things like Don Figuroa's concept designs and all the good fan customs that get posted are prime examples of doing new things with the line...

But these movie designs aren't Transformers. They're terminator like endoskeletons with little bits of metal hanging on them. They may not have huge "wings" or scoops, but they're shellformers all the same. A real TF has his alt mode incorporated into the bot mode. The parts are actually functional in both modes. These things are just a robot with fake bits of the disguise in little segments that aren't integrated into the system.

And they look like ASS.

And omg. All these little bits and a supercomplex transformation? If they fell or got hit once the metal would bend in such a way as to make transforming back into alt mode impossible.

And Starscream is not a gorilla goon. They wanted to make him an FA-22. I agree that that was the right alt mode for him. However, that's been pretty much done officially and it looked good. Why they didn't base it on E. Screamer but with a G1 transformation scheme I can't understand. As soon as I can get my hands on a 1:48 scale FA-22 model I'll show them how it's done...

Has anyone out there read the script?

I'm looking forward to seeing some set pieces up on screen, and I laughed at some of the jokes.

This is more of a relaunching of the franchise than what come before.

I'm looking forward to it, mind you I thought Unicron and Metroplex kicked arse so that's what MY opinion is like.

I never watched Transformers, but I did watch Beast Wars.

The only reason I ask this is because....sandrocklq....mentioned
"Optimus Prime"....

I remember him from Beast Wars.

Are Beast Wars and Transformers similar?

Beats Wars was a Transformers spinoff. Which is why there are an Optimus Prime and a Megatron on both. Heck, BW made a lot of cameos and references to the original Transformers.

Actually, BW was written into G1 cannon. It's the same story, whereas the Armadaverse (Armada, Energon, and Cybertron) are alternate universes and not truly related.

And many Transfans consider Beast Wars to be the finest of the cartoons. All of the Anime Transformers serie have sucked.

Beast Wars is considered to be the most well written and in my opinion the best animated series. Then Beast Machines happened and everyone got miffed. Prime from G1 is deffinitely distinct from Beast Wars Prime as is Megatron, but they do share similarities.

I've been trying to find the newer anime series subtitled from Japanese online but have found nothing. I guess there isn't enough interest for them to be fan subbed.

They are not the same, despite being in the same canon. When BW Megatron finds some golden disk, it turns out that it was some record the G1 Megatron/Galvatron did (implying they are some generations apart), about something I forgot (been a while since I watched bw and bm :/).

I have seen official translations, and they suck.

Aside from the very iffy story on Beast Machines, we were treated to morphing as a transformation. Worst idea EVER.

I'd have to say that Pretenders and Fembots were the worst ideas ever. I mean, come on. Giant robots hiding in human or monster looking shells for disguise? The idea of making "female" Transformers for equality sake as if robots have a gender in the first place?

The idea of male and female robots are kind of weird. It's not like they pro-create. That being said, I like Arcee.

Some of the spinoff series of transformers (headmasters and the like) that were pretty much japanese exclusive were pretty cool. I mean the headmasters (I think, anyways) had a tie in with Battle Beasts. If that's not cool, I don't know what is. Also the japanese opening for Beast Wars Metals is kickass.

Also, the lack of shockwave AND soundwave has made me sad. But at the same time...what would Soundwave turn into, an iPod? an MP3 player that launches SD cards?

I'm not a big fan of the robot designs but i'll see how it works in film. I do like Optimus's, though.

I'm suprised. Wasn't Devistator supposed to be in the movie too?

I'm excited about this.

Besides that, holy fucking shit. A friend of mine recently got this Chinese bootleg thing, its got 98 episodes (all of Generation 1), and the movie. We watched the movie (my 2nd time seeing it again since I was like 5 years old), and I was just blown away. I went ahead and ordered that package too, I'm hyped about going through Generation 1 again. I've also got a chunk of episodes from the Headmasters, which sounds interesting but I'm waiting to finish Generation 1 before I go into that.

And yeah. Win.

I had to download the soundtrack from the movie. It was funny hearing some bands here and there and it felt out of place at times, but the actual score to the movie is totally kickass.

I love Transformers to death. I loved Beast Wars so much, but I'd even go as far to say Generation 1 is even better.
