I didnt know where exactly I should put this, and since technically I am hacking the program, I figure I may as well post it here
thats what I have fully translated so far, theres some other scattered words translated, but I need someone that can speak/understand/read japanese to help me for most of everything else. if anyone wants to help, please PM me, or AIM me at Dcahrakos. |

I'd love to have a look at this program, it might be worth translating. I'll download it and have a look at it  .
Note: You could always do the translation the long way, that is, converting the japanese text into romanji then using a translator to translate a literal meaning for a phrase into english, then derive your own version of it. EDIT: Goddamnit, I can't find a download anywhere, and the build of it you have a screen shot is not the most up to date version. | That would be why he suggested deriving your own version of it afterwards. I don't think anyone would be dumb enough to just shove the machine translated script back into it.
Of course, it would still be better to have someone who actually knows the language try to translate it. Depending how much there is, you could actually try to do a word-by-word one with a good Japanese-English dictionary, but that'd be INSANELY tedious. |

Yeah, but you'd still need to be able to tell what the translator's output is supposed to mean. Often you just get gibberish. Actual translation from Japanese:

Actually that's not really fair. I had a fairly long conversation with a Japanese person through the Google translator and there was almost no misunderstanding. The thing is you have to use very formal sentences and simple words. (Actually most of the time we just sent pictures to clarify.  ) It's good for that, but don't expect useable results out of translating random things. |

| I messed something up the other day in the Map editor part when translating some of it...now ill have to probably restart, unless I can figure out what I did wrong..
yeah i dont have the latest version because this one is not a trial, its one I found on a chinese website. I would use google to translate it, but the stupid windows clipboard wont copy the kanji/kana over to any other program, so it just gets scrambled into stupid letters. anyone know a good hex editor that will display japanese in the program, ive been using TinyHex and it works flawlessly, except the clipboard. if not I just need someone to translate for me 
(also, I ordered VPS hosting(15GB space, 45GB Bandwidth) for 3 months, but it wont be activated for about 11 days(stupid echeck in paypal) and whoever helps ill give 1GB space, and 2GB bandwidth for helping(no Cpanel or anything though...but you can have mysql,php,etc. as long as everything goes through, and it gets activated.) | The best way to translate would probably be to learn Japanese sentence structure and grammar, and then look up individual words and re-build the sentence in English. I'm a little familiar with the language and I think the reason translators suck especially in English-Japanese translation is the fact that the grammar is completely different, with English having ways of implicitly defining certain ideas (such as temporal relations) and Japanese doing the same with other concepts (obviously formality and humbleness for one). There's even a verb form in Japanese that has no possible translation in English (the passive intransitive)!

What I did, personally, when translating such a program was use a translator that'd give me a fucked up sentence, I'd check where it's used in the program, and fix and adapt it to the context. That's more than good enough. Remember, this is a mere program that is being translated here, not a novel or a game... What matters is that you understand what is what so that you can make your game without any problem... That's all. |
