About 2 second to retrieve a heavy metal Hard drive

4 if I have to turn off the comptuer first.

Or a heavy metal lamp from this computer if I'm not at my own one... or three seconds for a very deadly knife in the kitchen.

My room itself is a deadly weapon. An intruder couldn't take two steps in here without tripping over something and impaling himself and/or smacking his head on something else.

(the concept of "organization" eludes me)

I'd be in trouble, haha, my mom pretty much keeps the house clean. So I'd probably have to run to my room and get one of my brother's baseball bats or something. Or maybe even my airsoft gun! I could try and shoot him in the eye or something.

I could use my Dell laptop as a grenade, apparently

But in all seriousness, my room in this appartment dosn't have anything besides videogame consoles,s chool books, and screwdrivers that would take a few seconds to get. I could throw the CD-I at his head, or if I wanted to wait for the soldering iron to heat up, impale him with that ._.

It doesn't need to be hot to stab with, it'd just be less painful.

Let's see...

I have a nail file right in front of me that I could stab him with. Also a large pair of scissors and a large metal lamp. My computer chair is tall-backed and I'm short so you can't see if I'm in it from the door. Near my bed there's another lamp, two sharpened and polished letter openers (read: Daggers not subject to weapons law) that I know how to use and can throw farther than any hallway in my house, some pieces of shelving that would make great blunt instruments, and several hardback books. In between the computer chair and the bed is a metal fold-up chair that doesn't weigh very much but is big enough to be a hassle if it's thrown at you. In that same category are bedsheets, pillows, clothes, a sleeping bag, and a foam DDR pad.

However my combat reflexes are probably dull as hell from not actually practicing against people in the past few years, so I'd most likely get beaten.

In the room that contains my video game systems, I would just have to use a book, or a plate or bowl. The only other place in the house I would be is the kitchen, where there are sharp implements galore.

So... From anywhere I would be, there's something that can be used as a weapon within reach.

There's a broken gamecude beside my bed I could thack him with. There's also a fan with similar properties, and there might be a book lying on my bed. A paper cut, if I'm lucky

Bascially, I'm not prepared. Shrug.

I think you guys are leaving out the time you'd need to wake up enough to not trip and fall on your face when going for the weapon.

Assuming I actually woke up (though I'd probably not have gotten to sleep in the first place,) I could reach my knife from bed. The sword stays on the wall, kiddies. My grandpa's bayonet sits between the computer and lappy within arm's reach as well.

My 6 shooter is in the foot locker. If I wanted to make noise I could have it pretty quickly. If stealth were priority I'd leave it there and go to the closet instead for my Benelli 12 gauge. I'd say after getting untangled from my blanket and feeling around with my foot at the edge of the bed so I wouldn't trip... I could get to the closet and have it loaded in under 15 seconds. Longer if I'm totally asleep and need to hear something suspicious again to hammer it into the skull. Shorter if I were still awake and accustomed to the dark.

I suppose I'm luckier than some of you in that I can have pretty much any weapon I want in my house and the right to shoot before asking questions.

If I were alone in the house though, I'm gonna have to assume I'd leave out the window with my pistol and call the cops rather than killing someone. I felt bad enough shooting the armadillo that's been tearing up the yard tonight. If I had a wife and kids in the house that might not be the case.
As is, I'd likely have plenty of time to get out as I always have the room door locked when I'm in here. Little chance of them getting in through my window without making tons of noise. Jumping down from the second story is quiet, climbing up is not.

I never ever worry about that sort of thing, though. I don't even lock the front door of my house, whether I'm home or not.

0 seconds, I have pretty thorough training in aggressive and defensive fighting ...

Well placed cockiness aside, I have a plethora of dangerous tools about 4 feet away from where I sleep, two bass guitars at my feet, a rice cooker at arms length, and a semi-heavy metal chair next to the guitars.

And I guess my "walls" could be put to good use, because I don't really have walls, just privacy curtains that are thumbtacked to the ceiling. Helpful for subdueing(sp?). Speaking of getting an assailant under control, a cool thing I learned from one of my instructors a while back was that you can use the guy's shoelaces to tie his thumbs together underneath the knuckle behind his back (I guess his other fingers too if you wanted to take the time), because it's damned near impossble to untie a knot when you can't use your thumbs.

Funny that I don't have any easily accessable real weapons available for use, considering I used to sleep with a pair of nunchaku under my pillow ...

Oh yeah, and I sleep on the floor because I'm a glutton for having available space, beds take up way too much room, so no stumbling about for me, just standing up. And actually, I'd kill a man before running away. Well, mostly because I'm not in a run awayable environment... my "room" is right by the front door, and the only other way out is like a 25 foot drop O_o.

That and anyone that decides to invade a house has accepted the possibility of death, and pretty much has it coming. I can always use the "HE WAS COMMIN RIGHT FOR ME" self defense scenario, because one, it's probably the case, and two, the dead can't talk =D.

You're assuming I'd be asleep. On the off chance I do sleep, it's generally during the day.

0 nanoseconds. If he ainīt too big, Iīll use my fists. Or my voice. You guys donīt wanna know how high-pitched I can scream.

Else, Iīve other hard objects in my room. A stone big as a fist, A plastic bottle of skin cream. Can hurt quite bad when theyīre FULL. I got a rubber snake I can use as a whip. Itīd hurt badly to get that one in your face.

I have a saxophone sitting a couple feet away from my bed. Total time to get up, realize there's an intruder, and grab the saxophone is about 3 seconds. The nice thing about playing alto sax is that when it's in the case, there's a nice weight/throwability ratio - it isn't so heavy that I can't lift it up to hit a guy in the back of the head, but it isn't so light that it won't hurt.

Once he's down, I can run into the kitchen and first call the police, then grab one of many Rather Deadly Knives. If the guy wakes up before the police get here, I'll have 6-7 knives handy. Oh, and I probably should wrap a cord around his wrists or something.

If said intruder can get into my room, I can grab a length of PVC pipe fast enough. Other than that, there's a hammer and wrench right near by.

And no, I'm not doing any plumbing.

5 seconds in getting my boken (wooden katana)

4 seconds to get a katana, 5 seconds in draw it XD (but the problem is that is not enough sharp...)

9 seconds in get any of my brother's weapons

15 seconds in getting my oldest brother's bow and some arrows

There are many weapons in my house ^^ (the problem would be if the intruder gets one... but I would have a chance unless he gets the arrows... they go throught doors and can kill... so I'll have to protect them...)
