links only, please. I'll be updating this piece shortly once I can grab the URLs [I'm going through a few galleries atm]
I figure artists of all skill levels could use some inspiration. That's the purpose of this thread. Some of these may contain mature content. [commodore 64] I enjoy these images most because it's where the demoscene started [included competitions with pixel art, going as far back as the 80's, there are some great things done with a not-so-great pallete and limitations] [note some may not look as they would on the hardware [specifically interlaced images]; please download the file and view on either an emulator or the real thing if you wish to see the original image] http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=37400 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=6746 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=7652 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=22313 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=2354 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=12781 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=9866 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=2109 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=3256 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=8291 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=24619 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=22875 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=2188 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=2376 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=33296 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=18276 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=2314 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=2119 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=2244 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=8293 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=13934 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=3264 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=7397 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=3234 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=30096 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=38742 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=2426 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=3754 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=2265 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=38951 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=3165 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=18306 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=19294 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=8402 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=2207 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=3233 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=20694 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=36974 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=37677 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=8200 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=13954 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=37414 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=12735 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=4540 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=9584 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=856 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=6449 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=18284 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=37434 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=6460 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=33929 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=8403 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=2186 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=8292 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=37688 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=4905 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=6451 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=29503 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=2110 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=6452 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=17617 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=2346 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=2325 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=5022 http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=9717 [god I just browsed through about 2000 images to get those, I'm beat D:] [Amiga] Because it's amazing how well a piece of art develops when the artist has months to work on it, and 256 colors to use. While some of these may be direct copies of other artwork, they're impressive nonetheless. http://ftp.amigascne.org/pub/amiga/Gfx/PAL-PSyvertsen/BadTrip.gif http://ftp.amigascne.org/pub/amiga/Gfx/raw/JCS-RIOT.GIF http://ftp.amigascne.org/pub/amiga/Gfx/raw/PROWLER-.GIF http://ftp.amigascne.org/pub/amiga/Gfx/Various/SAURON_F.GIF http://ftp.amigascne.org/pub/amiga/Gfx/Various/RICO_H_S.GIF http://ftp.amigascne.org/pub/amiga/Gfx/Various/BRIDGECL.GIF http://ftp.amigascne.org/pub/amiga/Gfx/Various/DRAGON1_.GIF (obviously color reduced to 16; I have too many to mention all of them, so I'll mention a recent one that I really enjoyed.
It's a webcomic, and the art is gorgeous. Lackadaisy. The attention that the artist has paid to the details of the Roaring Twenties, with costumes, lingo, etc is amazing. Despite the fact that the artist is quite talented at more realistic artwork, they have chosen to present Lackadaisy featuring anthromorphised cats as the characters. As explained by the artist, they've done this because it allows them more exp I really envy the rich characterisation that all this exp |
