I'm going to let it be for now... Partly because this arguement is reminding me of the Story Forum/Sim-Battle joined VS split arguement of not too long ago, only with the positions switched... And I don't like being a hypocrite.

I'm happy for a thread to be made for a post layout if there really is a lot of effort and creativity put in, but if it's just one where somebody's taken somebody else's codebase and modified a picture and a colour.... it should go in this thread.

It's hard to define at what point a post layout can become "art". Obviously code can be used to create art -- see the CSS Zen Garden for some stunning examples of this. But I think a lot of the more generic styled things perhaps don't warrant a whole thread.

Your layout is one example of a great deal of effort and care put into a post layout, I would consider yours to be "art". I wish more people were to put as much care and thought into their layouts and then maybe this thread wouldn't exist at all.

Setz -- the sql error ruins the effect It's looking good, although seems to be.. missing something. The skyline thing is cool... I like your clouds and moon

This is what I hope we can aim for with this thread. Boring edits of Fyxe's layout aren't art anymore, they're horribly boring and not special anymore.

Something like Kirb's or JD's or Tarale's or adgahsdgakslgd would be fine as its own thread, but it's just gotten excessive...

nothing against CSS or anything, but give me something besides [textbox] [image]. maybe if you wanted to post that image itself if you made it, but 9/10 users here just steal some image and put it there. I put that on the same level as people making "awesome sigs" where they take some copywritten image and apply a shitfuckton of photoshop filters to it and say it's their own.

if your layout looks more like, say, setz or tarale or some shit, post about it

I'm still working on this damn thing, such as font size in IE (Why does it get so damn big?) but I think its pretty good for a try. Any suggestions?

Actually, I think to fix SuperLuigi's problem, he'd just have to explicitly define Luigi's height. Because the marquee loads before the image, it tries to shove Luigi into the same box that the broken image tag would be, so he gets stuck under the ground.

(In other news: This one's new, but the bugs aren't all ironed out yet... For some reason, long posts cause the bottom of the box to go outside of the post itself. It's probably just a stupid mistake somewhere in it, which I'll have to fix sooner or later.)

to everyone doubting this thread:
In other forums I attend, their art sections consists of [BANNER] [BANNER] etc. the whole page, with the occasional avatar here and there. I would really hate to see this forum resort to [LAYOUT] [LAYOUT] [SHITTY WEBCOMIC] etc. so I support this thread. I would rather see this forum slightly inactive, but a nice variety of art formats, than the front page spammed with the same thing slightly altered. That's just me, though.
